City Council Recognizes Anaheim Service Clubs
During Service Club Month
| |
During the City Council meeting on 09/26, we celebrated Service Club Month by recognizing several of the wonderful service clubs in Anaheim. A representative from each of the following clubs was recognized and given a certificate: Anaheim Rotary Club, Anaheim Hills Rotary Club, Anaheim Beautiful, Assistance League, Lion's Club, Shriners, Kiwanis, and VFW. These local clubs are doing amazing work in our community. Please consider joining and/or supporting them. Thank you to ALL the service clubs in Anaheim for your hard work and dedication to making Anaheim a better city!
I had the opportunity to tour the CalOptima OC PACE center in Garden Grove. CalOptima Health Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is a long-term comprehensive health care program that helps older adults to remain as independent as possible. PACE coordinates and provides all needed preventive, primary, acute and long-term care services so seniors can continue living in their community. The OC facility serves residents across Orange County. You can learn more about the program and how to enroll at the link below.

Know Your Way During Fire Season
|
With regional fires around us, I want to remind you to be fire aware, alert and ready should we see fires closer to home. Everyone should have an emergency plan in place, especially those of us living in Anaheim Hills with the risk of wildfires, earthquakes and landslides.
Anaheim has a comprehensive evacuation strategy should we need to get people out during a wildfire or other emergency. Everyone in the hills should know their neighborhood evacuation zone and primary route out, plus two or three other routes in case roads are closed or conditions change.
In addition to knowing your evacuation route, it's good to know what zone you're in. You should have an emergency plan in place if you're at work, if your kids are at school, or if you have elderly relatives or pets at home.
Know your way — and what you'll do in an emergency. For more information, click the link below.

What You Need To Know About Organic Waste
|
Single-family residences should now be separating food scraps from the main trash and putting them in the brown yard waste bin.
Food scraps that can go in the yard and organics waste bin include fruits, vegetables, meat, bones, eggshells, shellfish, grains and coffee grounds. You can also put food-soiled paper and paper bags without wax coatings in the organics bin.
Baking soda and charcoal filters can be used to minimize odors in your organic bin.
If you live in an apartment or townhouse, check with your property manager to understand how the program will work in your community.
