Welcome to this month's edition of our community newsletter! We are excited to bring you the most recent developments throughout our community, and highlights from the last month.

Recent BCC Votes

At the Apr. 9, 2024, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action on the regular agenda:


County Attorney - Adopted a resolution, by a 5-0 vote, calling for a referendum on the November 5, 2024 ballot on whether the School Board of Palm Beach County should levy a discretionary sales tax of one-half cent per dollar for upgrading security, technology, facilities and infrastructure. If passed, the surtax would begin January 1, 2026, and end December 31, 2035 with oversight of all funds by an independent committee of citizens and experts.


Facilities – Approved motion, by a 5-0 vote, on preliminary reading and permission to advertise for public hearing on May 14, 2024, an update of the “The Palm Beach County Procurement/Purchasing Code”.


Housing and Economic Development - Approved, by a 5-0 vote, State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program award to Gulfstream Goodwill in the approximate amount of $1.6 million for the purchase of a nine-unit multifamily property in Lake Worth Beach with an affordability period of no less than 50 years.

Approved, by a 5-0 vote, SHIP award to the Housing Partnership, Inc., dba Community Partners of South Florida in the approximate amount of $1.890 million to purchase two abutting multifamily properties totaling ten (10) apartments in Lake Worth Beach with an affordability period of no less than 50 years.


Planning, Zoning & Building – Appointed, by a 5-0 vote, Susan Kennedy to the Zoning Commission to fill the vacancy at-large seat.

Proclamations/ Ribbon Cuttings

Commissioner Baxter presented a proclamation to the Greater Wellington Chamber of Commerce declaring March 27th ,2024 Greater Wellington Chamber Day. Thank you to the Greater Wellington Chamber of Commerce for your hard work in organizing this fantastic group of businesses.

Commissioner Baxter attended the Transportation Planning Authority meeting where they declared April 2024 Florida Bicycle Month.

Florida and Palm Beach County have miles of bicycle lanes to ride in safety! Get on your bike and ENJOY!

New Fire House!

Last week was the ribbon cutting for the newest Fire Station in Palm Beach County, Station 40 located in West Lake Worth. Thank you to our Firefighters for saving lives and homes each and every day!
