The Healing Hear Here Circle

Connect with your grief by giving voice to it in a group setting, give it form by crafting a memorial keepsake, and bear honest witness to the grief expressed by others. Led by artist Alison De La Cruz and death doula Minda Sanchez Jariwala, workshop participants may contribute their crafted keepsakes to De La Cruz's Grieving & Healing Portal installation. The finished installation will be on view at LA State Historic Park on May 20 as part of the Heal, Hear, Here event produced by LA Freewaves and Take Action Mental Health LA.

Fire Service Day
Earlier this week, the District 3 Office had an opportunity to get a glimpse of the hard work our Fire Fighters put in day-in and day-out via a ride along. We are grateful for their service and carving out time to spend with us.

On Wednesday, we Honored Pasadena's Fallen Police Officers and Firefighters at City Hall. As a community, we are reminded of their service, dedication and sacrifice.

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 13, come meet your Pasadena Fire Fighters, eat a hot dog, and check out the live demonstrations throughout the day!

Metro will be administering a Caltrans soundwall
project in Pasadena.  

Join the upcoming Virtual Community Meeting on
Thursday, May 18, 2023 at noon OR at 6:00 p.m. for an update on Soundwall Package 10 for new soundwall construction along I-210.

Soundwalls are noise barriers built to federal- and state approved
construction and safety standards to reduce noise
coming from traffic on the freeway.

City of Pasadena Section 8 Online Waiting List Opening June 1-June 15, 2023

The City of Pasadena Housing Department is pleased to announce that the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program will be taking online applications from June 1 through June 15, 2023. Section 8 provides rental assistance to very low-income households, including individuals, families, and senior citizens.

Interested households should apply at www.cityofpasadena.net/housing, beginning June 1, 2023 and no later than June 15, 2023.

The CoPHD last took applications in October 2014 when over 25,000 households applied. With this waiting list opening, the CoPHD will conduct a random computerized lottery to select 7,500 households to be placed on the waiting list. See flyers in English, Spanish and Armenian languages below.

Union Street Two-Way Protected Bikeway Project
The contractor, California Professional Engineering, continues installing signal poles, control cabinets and pulling conductors at various intersections. Subcontractor Toro is constructing raised driveways and islands at various locations and getting ready for street resurfacing.

This project will provide for a 1.5-mile protected bicycle lane along Union Street, from Hill Avenue to Arroyo Parkway.

The anticipated completion date is July 2023.
