District 27 Recognition

Division Director of the Month

Division D Director Thomas Pfeifer

This month’s Division Director of the Month is Tom Pfeifer. Tom not only ran the Division D Speech Contest smoothly, but he stepped up during the District 27 Annual Hybrid Conference by attending in person as well as providing a wonderful Division basket for the silent auction. Division D also has no clubs in bad standing. The first place winner of the District 27 International Speech Contest came from Division D as well. He also has the only Perfect 10 club currently in the District.

Area Director of the Month

Area 32 Director Millie Coles

Area Director of the Month is Area 32 Director Millie Coles, for her superb collaborative spirit and for being an invaluable asset to Division C. Millie has worked diligently with the clubs in Area 32 as well as the other areas in Division C. Area 32 Director Millie Coles is one that you can always call on to step up and take on a leadership role. She epitomizes the qualities of a team player.

First Distinguished Area in District 27 Toastmasters

Not only was Aundrea Veney the first Area Director to acquire Area Director of the Month, she is also the first Area Director to get her Area distinguished this year. All of her clubs are in good standing and has gotten high membership renewal numbers. Congratulations, Area 11 Director Aundrea Veney!

2024 Toastmaster of the Year

Congratulations, Carl Sabath, DTM, for being this year's District 27's Toastmaster of the Year.

Carl Sabath, DTM, has served District 27 Toastmasters for over 20 years and is the embodiment of the Toastmasters core values: Integrity, Respect, Service, and Excellence. He has spent countless hours actively supporting multiple clubs. This year alone, Carl Sabath holds leadership positions for three District 27 Toastmasters clubs: Secretary and Treasurer of Great Communicators; President of Helmsman Club; and Treasurer of Pentagon Legacy Club. His leadership has been a pillar of the Great Communicators club, and he has generously given his time training leaders, and is currently a mentor to several members.

District 27 Toastmasters Table at the Solutions to Heal and Restore the Soul of Community Conference

Special thanks to Naomi Carrington-Hockman and Judith Kuzma for assisting District 27 Toastmasters and tabling alongside with Club Growth Director Ida King at the Solutions to Heal and Restore the Soul of Community Conference. The Community Conference was held at Howard University School for Social Work on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

May 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024

Toastmasters are taught to run meetings on time, finish speeches on time and reach membership goals on time. In that spirit, Beat the Clock is a great motivator for finishing the year on schedule—on time and with record numbers! Clubs adding five new, dual or reinstated members with a join date between May 1 and June 30 receive a Beat the Clock ribbon to display on the club’s banner. Qualifying clubs also earn a special discount code for 10% off their next club order. The addition of transfer and charter members does not count toward Beat the Clock credit.

Inspirational Message of the Month

Finish Strong and Never Give Up!

We are approaching the end of another Toastmasters year, what a journey! I’m sure everyone started out with so many goals and high expectations. This is the perfect time to look back and reflect on all your outstanding accomplishments. Even if you didn’t bring everything on your list to completion, now is not the time to give up, but instead the time to finish strong.

With just a few months to go, so much can still be accomplished if we just keep pushing and refuse to give up. Examine what you have completed, and revise your plan, hit the reset button and move forward, completing the goals you have left.

Just imagine how much you can do if you put your mind to it. I

t’s not too late, keep pushing until you reach those goals, reassess, and repeat if necessary. There is still more to do and lots of time to make remarkable things happen! Let’s plan to finish strong, you’re too amazing to give up!

Sincerely,

Deborah Jones
