July 2023

Greeting from District 27 Director

Dear District 27 Toastmasters,

Are you ready to take on the world with your speaking skills this year? Get ready to kick off the new District 27 Toastmasters year with a bang because we are back and better than ever!

With a new year come new opportunities to grow, develop, and conquer your fears. Let's work together to make this year a roaring success. With our supportive community and expert guidance, we can all work together to make this year truly spectacular. Whether you're a seasoned member or a new face, there's never been a better time to get involved and make your mark. From enhancing your public speaking skills to building new connections and friendships, District 27 has something for everyone.

It is the start of a new program year, which means a new opportunity for success. Rather than focus on the destination, I want us to focus on the journey getting there. That is why this year's theme is "from progress to success". I believe it is more essential to show the amount of progress we made rather than the end results. So let's raise a glass (or a slice of toast!) to this exciting new chapter and make it one to remember. Cheers to an amazing year ahead!

District 27 Director Jeanna Lee, DTM

Greetings, Mighty District 27 Toastmasters, and welcome to the new Toastmasters year!

Allow me to introduce myself. I am your new Program Quality Director, and it is with a humble and grateful heart that I appreciate and welcome this opportunity to serve as part of this District 27 Leadership Team. As a member of the District Trio, I will be dedicated to improving member experience, offering relevant and dynamic education and training programs while creating a win/win environment for growth and development to lead and serve. There’s much to accomplish; however, I know we can; no we must do hard and great things by working together diligently. I remain your humble fellow Toastmaster and look forward to partnering with you to sustain and elevate our mighty District 27.

WE GO BIG! (With Every Goal/Opportunity, Believe In Greatness!)

Let’s Geaux!

District 27 Program Quality Director Annette M. Sanks

My name is Ida King from Washington, D.C. I am the 2023-2024 District 27 Club Growth Director. It is my pleasure to greet and serve all of you.

My team and I will work with you to achieve success in the following ways: develop a strategic marketing plan; build & support new clubs; strengthen existing clubs by providing tools and knowledge needed to achieve club growth; provide resources to help struggling clubs recover and grow; and serve as the third ranking number of the District Executive Committee.

I look forward to meeting each of you as the new Toastmaster year progresses.

Onto the success of our District!

District 27 Club Growth Director Ida King

Call for 2023-2024

Division Directors & Area Directors

Want more direct input and active influence on the District's direction? Want to become one step closer to earning your DTM? Then apply to become a division director or area director for District 27 Toastmasters for the upcoming

2023-2024 program year!

As Division Director, you are the liaison between the Areas and the District. A Division Director is appointed for a term of one Toastmasters program year, running from July 1 to June 30. We are still looking for Division Directors for Division A and E. We are also still looking for Area Directors for most areas.

An Area Director serves as the direct liaison between the District and the clubs. As an Area Director (AD), you represent Toastmasters International and the District and are considered the first point of contact for members.

The area director is the information conduit between clubs and division and districtleadership. The area director helps clubs meet the mission of helping members grow. They don’t single-handedly solve club problems, but rather act as a resource to partner with members to brainstorm and carry out solutions. An Area Director is appointed for a term of one Toastmasters program year, running from July 1 to June 30.

If interested or have questions, please email District Director Jeanna Lee, DTM at dd27@d27-tm.org.

Just like the beginning of a new year, starting January 1, Toastmasters has a new year that starts July 1. With it comes new people, new goals, new events, and activities. As you embark on this journey into your new District 27 role, step into it with boldness, doing everything possible to fully understand every aspect of your role, aiming to far exceed basic expectations.

It is the perfect time to start with a fresh and clean slate. Basically, a reset, letting go of what could have or should have happened. Instead, figure out what worked or what did not work, use any lessons learned to create a plan that will assist with building a solid future of huge wins for the future.

Writing goals and leaving them to chart their own path will lead somewhere, more than likely, this will not get you to your desired results. Instead, set goals that can be measured, be sure to review them on a regular basis, if modifications are needed, make the necessary changes early and continue moving forward.

Today is the day to make a difference! With the new Toastmasters year, let us start off with an energy level full of positivity and fire, to continue the momentum throughout the year, finishing even stronger, making District 27 the number one district in the world!
