2023-2024 Club Success Plans are due!

home_keys_planning.jpg

The Club Success Plan is a helpful tool to assist you and your club in achieving your goals and Distinguished status. The plan is broken into five main sections: Committee Values, Education Goals, Membership Goals, Training Goals, and Administration Goals. With your executive committee, officers should discuss your strategies and action items, fill out the plan, and sign the Club Success Plan together. You can download a club success plan at

https://www.toastmasters.org/resources/1111a-club-success-plan.

The completed Club Success Plan should then be submitted to District 27 Director Jeanna Lee, DTM by August 30, 2023 at dd27@d27-tm.org.

With a solid plan, dedication, and cohesive teamwork, your club can be Distinguished this year!

2023-2024 Toastmasters International Annual Business Meeting

The Annual Business Meeting (ABM) is a yearly assembly of the voting members of Toastmasters International. It is primarily held for the election of Board Members and to conduct other business of the organization. Club Presidents and Club Secretaries are eligible to vote during the annual business meeting. If you are not able to vote and unable to attend the annual business meeting, you are allowed to assign me as your proxy for your club. This is your chance to represent your club during the ABM and have your club's voice heard. Proxies must be assigned by August 11, 2023. This can be done via Club Central. There is an instructional video explaining how to assign proxies on Club Central at: https://www.toastmasters.org/events/annual-business-meeting/watch-and-learn. Additionally, there is a FAQ page regarding Club Proxy Designation at: https://www.toastmasters.org/about/board-of-directors/proxy-faq.

Again this must be done before August 11, 2023 by club presidents and/or club secretaries.

Call for 2023-2024

Division Directors & Area Directors

Want more direct input and active influence on the District's direction? Want to become one step closer to earning your DTM? Then apply to become a division director or area director for District 27 Toastmasters for the upcoming

2023-2024 program year!

As Division Director, you are the liaison between the Areas and the District. A Division Director is appointed for a term of one Toastmasters program year, running from July 1 to June 30. We are still looking for Division Directors for Division E. We are also still looking for Area Directors for most areas.

An Area Director serves as the direct liaison between the District and the clubs. As an Area Director (AD), you represent Toastmasters International and the District and are considered the first point of contact for members.

The area director is the information conduit between clubs and division and districtleadership. The area director helps clubs meet the mission of helping members grow. They don’t single-handedly solve club problems, but rather act as a resource to partner with members to brainstorm and carry out solutions. An Area Director is appointed for a term of one Toastmasters program year, running from July 1 to June 30.

If interested or have questions, please email District Director Jeanna Lee, DTM at dd27@d27-tm.org.

Division Director of the Month

Dr. Janice Boss, DTM

Division C

This month, we recognize a division director who was proactive and had all of her area directors in place before the program year even started. Division C Director Dr. Janice Boss, DTM, stepped up and ensured she was ready for the 2023-2024 year by getting all of her area directors herself.

Area Director of the Month

Jim Dooley, DTM

Area 4

The Area Director of the month is Area 42 Director Jim Dooley, DTM. Not only did Jim Dooley reach out to all of his clubs, but he earned Area Director of the Month by completing 80% of his area director's club visit report already.

Inspirational Message of the Month

We are now a few weeks into the new Toastmasters program year! Everyone is settling into their new officer role. You might be wondering, what have I gotten myself into.

There might be feelings of being confused and overwhelmed. Challenges will more than likely come your way. That is ok; this is a natural part of life. Focusing on the challenges will not bring you closer to the end but could potentially keep you stuck where you are or even push you further back. When the challenges come, it is not the time to run away and hide. Instead, it is time to roll up your sleeves and dig in. This is the ideal time to build a power team!

Hopefully by now, you have an idea of what is expected of you in your role within the district. If not, take some time to figure it out. Once this is clear, build your power team. When you face those challenges, your team will be an integral part of keeping and/or getting you back on track.

Also, take some time to list any challenges that could occur. It would be a great idea to meet with the person who recently held the role, or even others in the past. They could be potential members of your power team.

During your planning phase, you might have come across a list of skills needed for your role that you are not familiar with. Again here is where the power team can help! In any team, you will find hidden talents which you can tap into. It will be a win-win; you get the job done, they continue to build those skills or dust them off. Consider looking outside of Toastmasters, reach out to your coworkers, friends, neighbors, or even strangers who love to talk or who might be shy, turn them into future Toastmasters.

The goal is to work through your challenges, leaning on your power team when necessary. Toastmasters is an excellent place to network and grow relationships. Within, you will find a huge pool you can use to build your team. When things do not turn out the way you hoped for, do not get discouraged, instead call on your power team.

Sincerely,

District 27 Chaplin Deborah Jones
