Sequor Appelate Wins

11th Circuit Appeal Coverage in Law360 Congratulations to Leyza Florin Blanco, Juan J. Mendoza, Christopher A. Noel, and the Sequor Law team for their achievement of the Eleventh Circuit ruling that the eligibility requirements—requiring a person to reside, or have a domicile, a place of business, or property in the United States to be a debtor—do not apply to a debtor in a Chapter 15 case. Sequor Law Secures Appellate Affirmance of Multi-Million Dollar Judgment

Sequor Law attorneys Edward H. Davis, Jr., Arnoldo Lacayo, and Christopher A. Noel recently obtained a favorable opinion from Florida’s Third District Court of appeal, affirming a previously-obtained jury verdict finding liability against German and Colombian entities for fraud, conversion and conspiracy claims in favor of Sequor’s client, opening the door for immediate collection efforts for the client’s over $10MM dollar judgment.

Jennifer Mosquera Contributes the International Law Quarterly

Jennifer Mosquera, along with Li Massie, contributed an article about international law titled, “Tailoring RICO Claims for Fast Fashion: Is It a Good Fit?” in the latest edition of the International Law Quarterly. March 14-15 in Geneva - C5 Fraud, Asset Tracing & Recovery Conference  - Christopher A. Noel presented on a panel, “Complex, High-Value Asset Recovery Cases: Practitioner Tips for Overcoming Vexing, High Stakes Obstacles,” where he discussed the gap between orders of restitution and recovery. Co-panelists were Joanna Bogdanska (Poland) and Peter Gray (UAE).

March 12 in Vevey Switzerland - Christopher A. Noel attended the TL4Fire FIRE & ICE Circle conference where he met with other leading asset recovery professionals to discuss the most pressing current issues and opportunities in the field.

March 12 in Cartagena - Leyza Florin Blanco participated in a panel discussion at INSOL Cartagena, where she debated with her fellow panelists on the superior framework for complex Latin American businesses facing insolvency. 

March 11 in Miami - Sequor Law was proud to sponsor NABT's first-ever International Conference, in which Gregory S. Grossman moderated the panel, “You Better Shop Around,” dissecting the intricate process of choosing the most favorable venue for litigation claims.

March 9 - Leyza Florin Blanco presented the complexities of navigating Chapter 11 for Anáhuac University through a series of webinars targeting attorneys and legal department professionals in the Bajío.

February 28-29 in Bangkok - Edward H. Davis, Jr. moderated a two part panel during OffshoreAlert Bangkok 2024 entitled, “High Value International Recovery: Ask Me Anything,” where panelists discussed emerging trends and time-tested strategies in high-value international recovery.

February 22-23 in Grand Cayman - Daniel M. Coyle attended the dynamic, simulation-based 2024 NAFER International Conference. A NAFER International Committee member, Daniel experienced real-world cases while catching up with his industry peers.

February 21-23 in Dublin - Joseph Rome presented at the TL4 FIRE Starters Global Summit: Dublin for his accomplishment as the FIRE Starters Essay Competition Winner, along with Matthew Harders from KSG Law.

February 16 in Miami -  Nyana Abreu Miller recently spoke at the 2024 iLaw Conference, where she discussed the latest decisions on asset recovery during “The Money Chase” panel. iLaw Steering Committee member and Richard Dewitt Memorial Vis Pre-Moot Steering Committee member Jennifer Mosquera, along with Richard Dewitt Memorial Vis Pre-Moot Steering Committee member Maria Jose Cortesi, and Templeton Timothy were also in attendance. 

February 6 in Miami - Maria Jose Cortesi sharpened her legal skills while participating in a MDFAWL workshop, executing trial techniques with precision and learning from the best in the field.
