Last month, Discover New England hosted the 26th Annual Summit & International Marketplace in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire where 70 international tour operators from nine countries were wined and dined by tourism suppliers throughout the region and had more than 5,000 combined meetings with partners from all six states. It was a fabulous success. As a result of preparation for this event, Discover New England compiled the latest news, created new suggested itineraries and broadened its free image gallery which we are thrilled to share below.

Cruising New England

So much of New England’s history, character, and lifestyle is tied to boating. If you never leave shore, you’re truly missing out on some of the region’s most exhilarating experiences. Some cruises invite passengers to be a bit more active—helping to hoist the sails, for instance, or pitching in with making meals. The Famed WaterFire 2024 Season Schedule is Announced

WaterFire Providence is excited to announce eight schedule dates between May and November for the 2024 WaterFire season. Additional lightings may be added throughout the year so visitors are encouraged to check the schedule before arrival. The string of fires illuminates nearly two-thirds of a mile of the Woonasquatucket River in downtown Providence, accessible by walking paths, restaurants, history, art and along Waterplace Park lining both sides of the river. The River is closed to most boat traffic during lightings except for tours offered by the Providence River Boat Company and the La Gondola’s authentic Venetian Gondola tours.

Luxury Vehicles in Newport, Rhode Island

Best known for Gilded-Age mansions, sailing history, architecture, festivals and events, and seaside charm, Newport now boasts two car museums featuring rare and classic cars. Both museums are unique, offering every visitor, especially car enthusiasts, an experience viewing and learning about cars that are displayed as works of art.

 

  • The Audrain Automobile Museum located on fabled Bellevue Avenue next to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, offers exhibits of around twenty cars that rotate quarterly. From late April through early November, the Audrain conducts free public events, Cars and Coffee, on Sunday mornings in various locations around the island. There is also the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance each October that has become one of the most prestigious Concours in the US.
  • The Newport Car Museum, located in neighboring Portsmouth, is a short drive from Newport. Housed in a 55,000 square foot building, it features a private collection of over 95 cars spanning eight decades. Galleries featuring Ford/Shelby, Corvettes, and Porsche, to name a few, are sure to appeal to all generations of visitors.
