Smoke Alarm Safety

Lucan Biddulph & Biddulph Blanshard Fire Departments reminds you that smoke alarms don't last forever -- how old are yours?

Each year, many people in Canada die in fires that can be prevented with working smoke alarms. It’s not enough to just install smoke alarms; it’s important to have them where they are needed and to make sure they will work properly if there is a fire in your home. All smoke alarms have a replacement date. Check the date on yours when testing your alarms this month. Visit this link for more information:

Prevent Cooking Fires

Keep a proper fitting lid near the stove. If a pot of oil catches fire, slide the lid over the pot and turn off the stove. Do not move the pot.

Never throw water on a burning pot.
