Nominations are now open! The Alexander Campbell Distinguished Service Award is the highest award offered in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for lifetime achievement in higher education. The award is given to an individual exemplifying the values and commitment of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The recipient will be an outstanding Disciples leader whose faith and vision ensure a commitment to both the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and related institutions and ministries in higher education. The recipient will be celebrated at the 2025 General Assembly. The T.A. Abbott Award for Faculty Excellence was established and funded by the Abbott family in honor of the Rev. T.A. Abbott, who was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1879. He attended Christian University, now Culver-Stockton College, which he later served as a trustee for 20 years. The recipient of the T.A. Abbott Award is the highest award for faculty excellence offered by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The recipient will be celebrated at the 2025 General Assembly in Memphis, TN, July 12 -15, 2024.  Click here to submit your nomination!

For more than 20 years, HELM has offered the Leadership Fellows program for undergraduate college students. This program – which offers a $2,000 annual scholarship – is designed to cultivate and strengthen participants’ potential for leadership through intentional focus on Christian community, societal transformation, global awareness and leadership engagement. As a boy, John Corpin ’69 dreamed of attending college. His father, a barber, struggled to earn enough money to pay for college, so when Chapman offered him a scholarship, he seized the opportunity to enroll. “Chapman wanted to help someone who wanted to achieve,” Corpin shared. “I may not have had the best grades, but I had a desire to achieve.”

News from our Disciples Ministries & Church

Two former General Minister and Presidents, Sharon Watkins (2005-2017) and Dick Hamm (1993-2003), will be offering a course at Christian Theological Seminary this fall on “Disciples History and Polity.” The class is available both at CTS and online, Monday evenings 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and may be taken for three-hours of credit or audited.
