Hurricane Irma is the second devastating storm of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, following Harvey which hit Texas two weeks ago. Irma and Harvey, both Category 4 storms when they hit the U.S., set a record as the only two Atlantic hurricanes of this magnitude to make landfall in the continental U.S. during the same year.

Bishop appoints Bill Beam as Interim Director of All Saints Center 

On Monday, Sept. 11, Bill Beam was appointed by the Right Reverend Terry White to serve as Interim Director of All Saints Center near Leitchfield, KY, through December 2019.  Mr. Beam is a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Louisville and has more than 40 years of experience in project management, primarily in the food and beverage industry. Bishop White returns from vacation, sabbatical

We are glad to have Bishop White back from vacation and sabbatical. He is grateful for your prayers and well-wishes and wants you to know he's happy to be "back in the saddle again."

Official Youth Presence welcome at General Convention

Applications are now being accepted for high school students who want to participate in the General Convention Official Youth Presence (GCOYP) at the  Episcopal Church  79th  General Convention  to be held  July 5-13, 2018,  at  The Austin Convention Center , Austin, Texas .  Applications and information are available  here. The deadline for applications and nominations is  Nov. 1.

New Campus Ministry partnership announced

This summer the Diocese of Kentucky and the Evangelical Lutheran Indiana-Kentucky Synod entered into a covenant for common mission to partner in ministry at the University of Louisville Interfaith Center. The Rev. Austin Newberry, who also serves as the pastor of First Lutheran Church in Louisville, has been newly called as the campus minister. Read more here .

Calvary Church to host 'Jazz in the Courtyard'

"Jazz in the Courtyard" will feature The Utility Brothers from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Calvary Church, 821 S. 4th St., Louisville, KY 40202. There will be wine and cheese available, and a butterfly release will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Repentance and Reconciliation Liturgy and Walk, Oct. 3

On  Tuesday, Oct. 3 , beginning at  noon  in the Chapel of Christ Church Cathedral, the Urban Partnership invites all to join them in a Repentance and Reconciliation Liturgy and Walk. From the Cathedral, participants will make their way to several Louisville plaques that mark the history of slavery in Louisville.

St. Matthew's to host retreat, seminar

Author and blogger Sarah Bessey is visiting St. Matthew's for a seminar-style retreat and lecture on Oct.14 and Oct. 15. The " Jesus Feminist" retreat is 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, and the " Evening with Sarah" lecture begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15. Tickets for both events are free but required, and more information is available here.

'We stand with the Dreamers'

Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry and President of the  House of Deputies  the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings have issued a statement concerning the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA):  "Today our hearts are with those known as the Dreamers -- those young women and men who were brought to this country as children, who were raised here and whose primary cultural and country identity is American."

2017 DuBose Lectures with the Rev. Dr. Mark McIntosh

The annual DuBose Lectures are scheduled to begin Sept. 27-28 at the University of the South's School of Theology. This year's guest lecturer is the Rev. Dr. Mark McIntosh. The Sowers of Justice Network is hosting its second annual Sowing a Nonviolent City Conference, entitled "Systemic Racism: What People of Faith Can Do" from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.
