Congregational Leadership Conference March 18
The registration deadline is today, March 10.
The Diocese will host a Congregational Leadership Conference (formerly known as the "Wardens and Treasurers" conference) at Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green on March 18, 10 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. CT.
This free diocesan event is open to all vestry members (new and experienced), treasurers, stewardship chairs, clergy, audit committee members, and any other congregational leaders interested in this opportunity to share, discover, and learn best practices for the health and growth of our congregations.

Prayer in Action Days at the State Capitol

The final KCC Prayer in Action Day at the KY General Assembly is
Tuesday, March 14, at 9:30 a.m
. We will gather in the capitol rotunda to advocate for refugees and immigrants. All Episcopalians are welcome to join in the Action Day - clergy who participate are asked to wear stoles to the event.

Organ recital at St. Thomas, Louisville
The Friends of St. Thomas are sponsoring an organ recital on Sunday, March 19, at 5 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 9616 Westport Road. The guest organist is Kyle Ritter, Canon of Music at All Souls Cathedral in Asheville, N.C. The event is free, and a reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Clergy of the diocese will gather at All Saints for the annual Chrism Mass and renewal of vows on April 6.

University of the South to offer stewardship conference
Sewanee is hosting a five-day course from May 22-26, entitled "
Spirituality and Praxis of Church Resource Development."
Course participants will learn theories and proven practices in managing a year-round resource development system for financial development, along with stewardship formation in churches of all sizes.

St. Peter's welcomes family members
Rosemary Paw and her two young children arrived in the U.S. earlier this month to be reunited with their husband and father and other family members, who have been living in the U.S. under the Refugee Resettlement Program. The family, who lived in a refugee camp in Thailand, were the last to arrive through a program administered by Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
A travel ban, which was implemented through a Presidential Executive Order, has halted additional arrivals. The family was welcomed at St. Peter's the following Sunday. Many members of the congregation came to the U.S. under the same resettlement program during the last several years. Refugees to the U.S. undergo a lengthly application and vetting process.
Each year, the Episcopal Church assists thousands of refugees seeking a safe homeland through its Episcopal Migration Ministries program. Kentucky Refugee Ministries is EMM's local partner.

Harvey Roberts ordained to the diaconate
Bishop White ordained the Rev. Harvey Roberts to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Feb. 24, the Feast of St. Matthias, at Christ Church Cathedral. Deacon Roberts will serve at St. Matthew's Church in Louisville.

'Traces of the Trade' explores legacy of slavery, pursuit of racial equality

The 2017 Brennan Lecture Series concluded Saturday at St. Andrew's, Louisville, with more than 60 participants discussing the impact of slavery and ways to effectively propel racial reconciliation forward.

Diocese of Louisiana hosting prison ministry conference in late March
The Diocese of Louisiana is hosting a prison ministry conference at St. James Episcopal Church, Convention Street at North Fourth Street, in Baton Rouge from
March 27-29, 2017
.
The conference is entitled "Proclaiming Hope in the Age of Mass Incarceration."
Speakers include the Rev. Deacon Charles deGravelles, Professor Jenny McBride, and others on such topics as restorative justice, advocacy, sentencing reform, re-entry initiatives, intervention, and societal disparities.

Lenten Message from Episcopal, Lutheran leaders in U.S. and Canada
On Ash Wednesday, Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael Curry joined the leaders of the Anglican Church of Canada, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in issuing an Ash Wednesday message entitled Remember the Refugees and Migrants.
"May this Season of Lent be especially marked by our prayers and advocacy for refugees and migrants - on the run, in United Nations camps, in waiting, in our communities ... And let it be marked by a continuing resolve in welcoming the stranger in our midst, for such hospitality is in keeping with the faith we proclaim (Matthew 25:31-40)."
