Be wary of a email scam of someone pretending to be from St. Philip soliciting gift cards. Occasionally, this happens from time to time.
St. Philip, nor any priest associated with the parish or diocese, solicits gift cards via email.
If you receive such an email, or are in doubt of any communication, please call or contact the rectory.

Dear Friends in Christ,
It is hard to imagine that exactly one month ago I was in Indianapolis for the Eucharistic Congress. I am still in awe of how God used that blessed time to touch the hearts of thousands of men, women, and children through His presence in the Eucharist. Even to this day, I am still energized in sharing the countless blessings that I received in my time there. It is my hope that these short reflections will enkindle the fire of love that Jesus has for you in His Real Presence.
This week and next week, I wish to share with you my experiences in the eucharistic procession that the Congress hosted on the last full day of the event. This procession went through downtown Indianapolis, blocking streets and bystanders on the road, and ended at the Indiana World War Memorial for adoration and benediction. I will share with you more about the actual procession in next week’s letter.
Before the procession took place, there was a moment that struck my heart deeply, and affirmed me in my vocation to the priesthood. For the procession, we priests were told to assemble ourselves in a large vesting-room and await for instructions. Once we were all vested, we all proceeded down a corridor that led to the beginning of the procession. The photo below is only half of the nine hundred or more priests who were present!
With so many priests present, you can imagine that there was a din of noise from everyone talking at the same time. However, all of a sudden, from somewhere in the crowd of priests, someone began to sing the hymn, “Holy God We Praise Thy Name.” Immediately, the chatter ceased, and nine hundred priest voices erupted into song. It was a moment that clearly showed the great unity that binds all priests together, and the great love that each of us have for Our Lord Jesus in the Eucharist. How good God is to give us the gift of the priesthood and the Eucharist!
May Christ’s peace be with you!
Fr. Briggs
