A Message from Bishop Kym
Dear Beloved in Christ,
June is Pride month and the Office of the Bishop has been fielding requests from all over Colorado, the Province, and other denominations for our signature Pride shirts in anticipation of Pride festivals around Colorado.
Attending Pride celebrations has been a commitment of mine for most of my ordained ministry. Which is why I am so sad that my commitments at The General Convention will prohibit me from attending Denver Pride this year. Nonetheless, I take this time to express my deep appreciation for the ways our Queer siblings have loved and served Christ and the church. I have heard so many stories from people who have been welcomed in the Episcopal Church; I’ve learned how our church’s covenant to “respect the dignity of every human being” has actually saved lives.
For this, I am grateful; and I’m so inspired by every Episcopalian and every congregation who has been willing to do the hard work of discernment around LGBTQIA inclusion. I am thrilled that the Episcopal Church in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Synod of the ELCA continue our proclamation of God’s relentless love for ALL of God’s children. I give thanks for the volunteers who will represent me at Pride all over Colorado. Happy Pride!
Yours In Christ,
+Bishop Kym

Denver Pride Parade
Sunday, June 23. Gathering time: 10:15 am at Cheesman Park. The Episcopal Church in Colorado's Bishop Kym Lucas and ELCA Bishop Jim Gonia encourage all area Episcopalians, Lutherans, and Methodists to march in the parade on Sunday, June 23. Be prepared to spend about 2 hours total for the march and be prepared to walk approximately 2 miles. We will gather at Cheesman Park at 10:15 am to celebrate Holy Eucharist prior to marching. Look for the altar set-up in a shaded area near our staging location. We will be staged in the Purple Section, Entry #3. See map for specific location >
Please coordinate with other members of your church or group to have a pole banner, matching shirts, or signs to hold. Be creative and have fun! Per PrideFest regulations, only service animals are allowed in the parade.

General Convention is Almost Here! June 23-28 in Louisville, Kentucky
Are you ready for the General Convention? Well, your deputies, alternates, and Bishop Kym are!
General Convention is held every three years and consists of “two houses,” the House of Bishops and the House of Deputies, and any legislation must pass both houses. All bishops and elected deputies are appointed to serve on the 26 legislative committees. These committees hold hearings on their respective resolutions, inviting testimonies to understand various perspectives and fine tuning each resolution before the matter comes before the houses for deliberation. The 6-day convention will open with a Revival the evening of Saturday, June 22, and promises to be filled with prayer, worship, and lively discussion of the issues.
This year’s Lay Deputies representing the Episcopal Church in Colorado are Zoe Cole from St. Andrew’s in Denver, Chuck Theobald from Grace and St. Stephens in Colorado Springs, Erica Pomerenk from St. Thomas in Denver, and Lawrence Hitt II from Good Shepherd, Centennial/St. John the Baptist, Breckenridge.
Our clergy deputies are Brian Winter from Christ’s Church in Castle Rock, Melissa Adzima from St. Stephen’s, Longmont, Tory Moir, and Anne Richter.
Br. Scott Michael Pomerenk, St. Thomas Denver, for the lay order, and Debra Shew from St. Marks, Durango, in the clergy order, will serve as attending alternates.
Please keep our Bishop and the deputation in your prayers.
Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel in the 81st General Convention of the Episcopal Church gathered in Louisville, KY, for the renewal and mission of your Church. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Cathedral Ridge Summer Camps
Spotlight on Creation Care Family Camp
June 20-23. Join us for a time of "Awe and Wonder" as we explore and experience God's creation at Cathedral Ridge. Special guests will engage participants in environmental education, forest bathing, and wildlife habitat improvement, as well as introduce two wolf pups to delight and teach us about wolves. There will be lots of opportunities to venture into the outdoors -- ropes course, nature hikes, archery -- plus we'll get out the telescope to see the full "Strawberry Moon" rise the evening of June 22.
Chaplains: the Rev. Alena Lamirato and the Rev. Linda Brown
Guest speakers with Biblical dramas: Jim and Carol Anderson Shores

Alloted Lay Delegates for Annual Convention
Compiling the information needed to determine the number of allotted lay delegates for our congregations has been delayed. Due to technical issues with the filing portal, The Episcopal Church has extended the deadline for filing Parochial Reports to June 15, 2024. We will make the information available at our earliest opportunity following this deadline. Contact Diocesan Convention Coordinator Janet Choyce with any questions you may have.
