Rule of Life | One Day Retreat at St. David's

The practice of living by a Rule of Life comes from the Benedictine community and St. Benedict of Nursia, but has been expanded in many directions. St. David’s congregation is excited to offer a one-day retreat for you to learn more about the Rule of Life, how it is used, and how to create one for yourself which will deepen your own faith journey and relationship with God. Our time together will include stories, meditation and reflection time, a labyrinth walk, practices for developing one’s own Rule of Life, and worship. Lunch is also included, catered by Chef Vira Melendez-Redman.

The retreat is open to anyone in the Diocese of Spokane, but we are limited to 28 participants. The cost for the day is variable, depending on your ability to pay. We ask for $10 minimum, up to $20. Please contact the Rev. Kimmy Meinecke for scholarship options, if needed.

To register for the retreat, please send an email with your name and phone number to kimeinecke@yahoo.com by September 6th, and plan to pay at the door. Please register early, as the class size is limited!

For those arriving on Thursday we will rehearse the work in the Sanctuary from 8:30-9:00pm. We also encourage anyone wanting to join us the ‘day-of’ we will rehearse at 4:45pm on Friday.

FāVS News Launches ‘Spiritual Landscapes’ Series,

Starting with Buddhism

In August, FāVS News will introduce a new event series called “Spiritual Landscapes: Exploring Inland Northwest Religions.”

The hybrid program delves into the diverse religions that shape the Inland Northwest. The first course will start by learning about various Buddhist practices and hearing from local Buddhist communities.

Speakers will discuss Buddhism through online sessions throughout August and September. After that, attendees will gather together for a field trip to experience a local Buddhist house of worship.
