Dinner by the Dozen is closing

Dear Friends,

I have decided not to reopen Dinner by the Dozen after our summer break. I am concentrating more on marketing work and opening myself to new opportunities. Thanks for your support over the years. I will miss you all for sure and wish you the best.
Remember to have fun, both in life and in the kitchen!

Several people have asked me for recipes. I am sending you a couple now but I will be posting some more in my blog at dinnerx12.com so let me know which ones you'd like to see. And who knows, I may even do a cookbook!

Make sure to follow us on Facebook so I can let you know when I post more recipes!

 Balsamic Flank Steak: the recipe!

I have been making this flank steak all Summer long and even though the weather is starting to get chilly, it's a great recipe anytime!

flank steak
Marinade:
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup sugar (regular or brown)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp dried shallots or dried onions - optional (skip the dried shallots/onions if you don't have any on hand. You could always use fresh too if you are so inclined - approx 1/4 cup. Great either way)

1.5 lbs flank steak, trimmed of fat

In a bowl mix all the ingredients for the marinade. Pour into large Ziploc bag and add the meat. Seal well and shake well to marinate. Best if left overnight to marinate in the fridge, but at least marinate for a couple of hours.

Remove steak from marinade. Grill on med-high heat for 5 minutes per side for med-rare. Let sit covered in foil for a few minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Enjoy with a green salad and some red wine sangria! The marinade is also a great salad dressing before you mix it with the raw meat.

St Germain Margaritas

Last newsletter I asked for some drink recipes. Well, my friend Randie Thompson from A Bottled Affair offered this gem. I have to tell you though, they are quite lethal so imbibe with care!

2 shots tequila blanco
1 shot St Germain liqueur (worth every penny!)
3/4 shot fresh lime juice

Mix, shake with ice, serve on salt-rimmed glass, repeat. Makes enough for 2 drinks.

Enjoy and please stay in touch!
