10/03/2012 PTR CALL. Tony said International Smart Cards are being used and their folks in Iraq have been paid today with them. Said if you are a member of Facebook, it is being shown on there. Said, don't take his word for it, just go to Facebook. I don't have a Facebook account, so I can't check it out. He says there are a list of all of the banks in Iraq they are sending people to. He read them off. I guess they are on facebook as well. I think he said search for : International Smart Cards. Tony said his guy in Iraq reporting this has been all over Iraq TV. Women not paid today, and doesn't know when. Maybe tomorrow. Feels maybe we should see internationally by weekend. Don't know. Only knows that at least this is going in the right direction. Tony said on Iraq TV. Not only being paid, but govn. officials and retirees all were given 100,000 dinar as current and back pay. This has been promised all along. Quick summary: the international smart cards were loaded with 100K IQD for men ... published on Facebook ... then while on call, facebook updated to show that the women were paid also ... this is 3-4 years worth of salary for these people. Current value of 100K iqd would only be US$100 or so. Would this be representative of 3-4 yrs salary? No. So, hopefully this is real strong indication of what we are hoping to find in this RV venture. Something happening out there folks. Enorrste: there is a difference between "changing the value" of the IQD (either free float or RV), on the one hand, and "removing the three zeros", on the other hand...the talk about delaying the removal of the three zeros until 2014 DOES NOT CONCERN US since we don't care when they remove the large notes in Iraq. All we care about is the RATE CHANGE. The bottom line is this: the change in the rate MUST precede the removal of the three zeros. Therefore, Saleh has no problem moving the date back on the removal of the three zeros to 2014. Why? Because he knows that they will all disappear automatically from the market when the RATE changes to $1, or more. This means that the date of 2014 could be 2024 for all he cares. The notes will disappear as soon as the rate gets to $1 or more! he drops another hint to us to allow us to see that the process of removing the three zeros is NO LONGER TIED to the RATE!

BAGHDAD, Iraq : Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is expected to visit Russia to sign a $5 billion deal to procure weapons for the Iraqi military.
A member of Iraqi parliament's committee of defense and security told Rudaw that Maliki is planning to ask the Russians to deliver 20 to 40 helicopters and a number of missiles to penetrate into mountainous areas.
Maliki's first visit to Russia as Iraq's prime minister has sparked different reactions across the country. Many Iraqis, especially Kurds, have voiced concern about Maliki's plans and are alarmed by what they describe as his "unilateral" and "autocratic" style.
Shwan Taha, a Kurdish member of Iraqi Parliament, said, "The arming policy is random and affected by corruption."

Iraq central bank eases dollar sale restrictions

The latest easing of restrictions also mean traders taking part in the central bank's dollar auctions will no longer be subject to money transfer quotas.
Reuters: Iraq's central bank has eased restrictions on the sale of dollars in a step likely to boost the dinar currency, officials said on Tuesday.
The central bank tightened rules in April over who could participate in its daily dollar auctions and the amount they could buy, seeking to stabilise the dinar and stem the illicit transfer of U.S. currency to neighbouring countries under sanctions.
Reversing those moves on Tuesday, the central bank said it would double lenders' weekly share of cash and allow them to determine the price, which was previously fixed at 1,189 dinars to the dollar.

CBI rules out implementing zeros deletion project of Iraqi currency in 2013 October 3 2012 The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) ruled out implementing the project of deleting zeros from the Iraqi currency in 2013 because it needs time and new fiscal year. The Deputy Chairman of the CBI Mudhir, Mohamed Salih, told AIN on Wednesday "The project of crossing out zeros from the Iraqi currency takes time," noting that "The Council of Ministers has instructed to take extra time to consider this project." Salih denied "The reports over a malfunction that took place while implementing this project in the exchange rate of the Iraqi Diner against the foreign currencies." Agencies : confirmed MP for the Iraqi bloc white dignified slaves, that the president promised mass resolving political differences after meetings with al-Maliki and Allawi and Barzani for the convergence of views between them, noting that the failure to resolve the problems will lead to the formation of a majority government.
Jawary said in a press statement: The President Jalal Talabani represents a safety valve for the political process and his presence will give support to resolve the crisis.

Attorney's office announced the first President of the House of Representatives, the committee charged with overseeing the central bank auction, headed by Qusay al-Suhail, contributed significantly to the improvement of the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar. "
The official said the Information Office of the Deputy First, Haider Hamada, said in a statement today, "The committee tasked with monitoring a central bank auction and the extent of transparency applied which contributed significantly raise the value of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar through the recommendations and actions taken."
CBI eases restrictions on the sale of dollar

Economic / Buratha News: Officials said on Tuesday that the Iraqi Central Bank eased restrictions on the sale of the dollar in a move likely to strengthen the Iraqi dinar.
He stressed the CBI in April, the rules that determine who can participate in the daily dollar auctions and quantity that can be purchased in an attempt to stabilize the dinar and prevent the diversion of U.S. currency illegally to neighboring countries lies under sanctions.
The Central Bank announced cancellation of this step on Tuesday and said he will raise Representatives banks weekly share of liquidity and allows it to determine the price at which it is installed in the past at 1189 dinars to the dollar.
Iraq is recovering from decades of war and sanctions and the economy is still largely centrally. Oil accounts for 95 percent of government revenues.
