Hello Morningside families!

What an AMAZING year this has been at MES! As we've settled back into our newly renovated campus, we've brought back old traditions, started some great new ones, and swam along a wave of incredible positive energy all year long. So much of this year has been made possible because of the tireless work of every member of our Dolphin pod, including all of our wonderful families, students, teachers, administrators, and staff members. Thank you doesn't seem big enough to express our gratitude for all the ways that our community has shown up this year, from volunteering to plan events, organizing class parties, donating classroom supplies, waving at the cross guards, chatting with the bus drivers, helping with homework, cheering on our students, and so much more. We could not have done everything we've done this year without each and every one of you!

Before we sign off for the summer, we wanted to share some brief reminders about when you can expect Back to School information to come out for next year, a note of gratitude from the MES Foundation, and a photo review of some of our PTA activities from this past spring. We also wanted to remind you that while this school may be ending, our PTA is already hard at work starting to plan for next year. The MES PTA's mission is to make every child's potential a reality through engagement with our staff, community, and families, always advocating for every MES child. Morningside Elementary is YOUR school. If there are differences you'd like to see, we welcome you to fill out our MES PTA Volunteer Interest Form and engage with us. There is a seat for EVERYONE at this school and with our PTA.

Thanks, and have a relaxing and fun-fulled summer! Don't forget to wear your sunscreen and we'll see everyone back at school on Thursday, August 1st!

Sincerely,

The MES PTA Executive Committee

Summer Reminders to Prepare for Next Year!

School Supply Lists for 2024-2025

Our teachers are busy preparing the school supply lists for each grade for next year already! You can view all of the school supply lists as they are posted on the MES website here.

Please note that unlike last year, we are NOT partnering with a school supply kit provider this year.

Re-Registration for Rising 1st – 5th Grade Students

If you have returning students rising into Grades 1-5 and you have not yet done so, please be sure to verify that your information is up to date with Atlanta Public Schools for the 2024-2025 School Year. Please click HERE for full details.

Registration information for Rising K students can be found here.

If you know that your current K-4th grade students will NOT be returning to MES next year, please be sure to complete the APS Withdrawal Form as soon as possible (one for each student you are withdrawing).

2024-2025 Class Lists

Class lists will be available in Infinite Campus Parent Portal on Tuesday, July 30th. Lists will also be posted on the doors of the school on the same day. Check back here for more details as they become available.

Please note that class placements for incoming Kindergarten students and new students in any grade will NOT be available in the Parent Portal. These class placements will be shared on the lists on the doors of the school as well as via letters sent through the U.S. postal service.

2024-2025 Bus Route Information

Updated bus routes will be posted on the MES website as soon as they are available from APS Transportation (typically in late July)! It is at that time that all families will fill out the MES Transportation Form. You can find all of the information related to transportation for the 2024-2025 school year on the MES Transportation webpage. We will also send reminders via Campus Messenger when information becomes available.

Meet and Greet at MES

This opportunity to meet the teachers and see classrooms will take place on Wednesday, July 31st. In order to allow for a more personalized Meet & Greet, students with last names starting with A-M are asked to attend from 9-10am while students with last names starting with N-Z should attend from 10-11am.

First Day of School

The first day of school for next year is on Thursday, August 1st. Please plan to join us in the MES Auditorium following drop off for our annual Coffee and Kleenex meet and greet!

MES Parent Orientation

This important safety meeting will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, August 6th at 5pm. During this meeting, school administrators will discuss the school safety plan, the parent/school partnership, and all things MES. This meeting is intended for ALL parents (new and veteran!) with content curated by MES staff including teachers, the school resource officer, and our support staff.

A Word of Thanks from the MES Foundation

The MES Foundation thanks our generous donors, which allowed us to support MES administrators, teachers, and our school community in the 2023-2024 school year. Please keep an eye out for a link to a short donor survey that we will use to help plan next year's campaign. We wish you all a wonderful summer!

Before we log off for the summer and hit the pool, please enjoy this brief look back at just some of the exciting things that the MES PTA has done this spring. None of this would have been possible without your ongoing support, so THANK YOU!

Finally, one last thank you to our 2023-2024 Diamond Dolphin, Dolphin, and Platinum-level sponsors for supporting our school this year!
