DESIGN-BUILD TRANSFORMATION May Chapter Meeting
Tuesday, May 16, 2017
The Ohio State University's North Residential District Transformation Team, led by Messer Construction Co., utilized integrated project delivery concepts, a collaborative on-site studio environment, while harnessing the power of BIM-enabled workflows and processes to tackle the largest and most complex Design-Build project in the University's history. This presentation tells the story of how a BIM-enabled job site changed the way we communicate with owners, tackled design and construction issues early, approached 3D trade coordination holistically, and pushed the industry from the inside out to leverage and trust BIM for a better end product.

WEIGHT OF ARCHITECTURE 2017 Design Service Grant for Non-Profits
Applications Due May 19
How can architecture help solve a challenge an organization faces and help achieve their mission?
This design service grant is intended to provide design assistance to local 501(c)3 non-profit organizations that can benefit from the services of skilled architects and designers and that would not otherwise have the resources to retain such services.
Our team is prepared to meet with selected nonprofits to assess and analyze a challenge identified by their organization. Suggested projects can range in scale from a redesign of a food pantry's storefront or the reorganization of a nonprofit office to the design of a pavilion in a local community park or the renovation of a local halfway house.

AIA FORESIGHT REPORT
Get insights and tools to help you navigate the future of the design profession and industry. The Foresight Report is an environmental scan of trends that could disrupt or affect the future of architecture as a discipline and a profession. There are two tools that complement the report this year: a powerpoint with data excerpts and a workbook to help firms incorporate foresight into their strategic planning. We hope these additions make the report even more actionable, especially for smaller firms. More Information.
AIA FIRM BENCHMARKING TOOL
The Firm Benchmarking Tool offers an interactive portal for members to compare themselves against the profession at large, and by firms of comparable size and specialization. This is just the initial release of the tool, which will eventually be a place for firms to compare themselves against other firms across a number of dimensions, starting with data from the Firm Survey. More Information.
