GADD Funds AACC Student Scholarship Fund

The Greater Annapolis Design District (GADD) has developed an Annual Scholarship Fund "The Scholarship for Skilled Trades & Design/Build Industry" with the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation.

Donations will help to reward AACC students who work diligently to further their education in the "built environment".

The Scholarship has an annual minimum requirement of $5,000. While some members have generously donated, the fund was over $4,000 short of meeting the minimum requirement. The Board of Directors voted to redirect funds to the scholarship to ensure students can be awarded the scholarship in the fall of 2023.

We encourage all of our Members to consider donating to this important endeavor. Future funds received will be used towards the 2024 school year.

GADD Monthly Networking Breakfast (MEMBERS Only)

Date: Third Thursday of each month - Upcoming Dates: May 18, June 15

Location: Market House, 25 Market Space, Annapolis, MD 21401

Time: 7:30am - 8:30am

Cost: Free

Members are invited to an early morning networking hour the third Thursday of each month from 7:30-8:30a.m. at the Market House located at 25 Market Space, Annapolis, MD 21401. Arrive a few minutes early to purchase a coffee and breakfast bite at Rise Up, located inside the Market House. Be ready at 7:30am to connect and collaborate.

Location: Neo's Pizza & Taphouse, 220 Harker Pl., #145, Annapolis, MD 21401

Time: 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Cost: $10 Members | $20 Non-Members

Members and guests are invited to stop by RH (located at 1906 Towne Centre Blvd #120, Annapolis, MD 21401) for a stroll around the showroom and to pick up a raffle ticket to win a Quartz Crystal. Then head across the street to Neo's Pizza & Taphouse (located at 220 Harker Pl #145, Annapolis, MD 21401) for a Networking Happy Hour .*Appetizers will be provided. Cash bar.

Brant Nielsen and Alison Whitacre are excited to announce a merger of Cornerstone Project Consulting and Nielsen Development Group under the company umbrella of NDG.

Alison has become Construction Operations Director for NDG. Alison’s more than 30 years of industry experience will allow her to provide customer support in sync with NDG’s core values.

Music! Refreshments! Art! Salvage! After a pandemic-induced hiatus, Community Forklift's popular First Friday community events return on May 5 from 5:00-7:00p.m.

The reuse warehouse will be open late and there will be local artists and vendors, live music, refreshments, and — of course — modern and vintage salvaged materials to enjoy.

Zeskind's Happy Hour Re-Cap

Thank you to Business Member Sponsor Zeskind's Hardware and Millwork and Business Member Masonite Doors for hosting the March 23rd Happy Hour & Networking event at Zeskind's Arnold Showroom.

It was a fun evening as well as a great opportunity to mingle with some of our newer members!

April is National Volunteer Month. Did you know that the Board of Directors, Chairs and Committee members are all volunteers?

We'd like to take a moment to express our gratitude for all of our volunteers who dedicate their time and talent to help steer and grow the organization. Without volunteers, we wouldn't be where we are today!

Speaking of volunteering - we are seeking a member who is interested in serving as Vice President. The Vice President functions as council to the President; assumes responsibilities as needed in the President's absence; assists with carrying out specific duties delegated by the President; and acts as the contact point and advisor for sub committees. The Vice President will move into the role of President after one year.

While this is a vital position on the Board, the time commitment is minimal.
