The public is welcome to attend the Derry Township Board of Supervisors Meeting scheduled on Tuesday, October 24^th, at 7:00 pm. This meeting will be held in person at the Derry Township Administration Building, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey, PA 17033.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced in a press release on October 17, 2023, that in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), they will host two public hearings and receive public comment in-person, online, and by mail on an Environmental Assessment (EA) prepared for the I-83 South Bridge Project in Dauphin and Cumberland Counties. The in-person public hearings will take place from 3:30 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 1, 2023, and Thursday, November 2, 2023. As part of our commitment to maintaining a high standard as an accredited law enforcement agency, the Police Department is conducting a community survey for those who reside and/or work in Derry Township. We are constantly working and training in an effort to improve services to our community and appreciate feedback from those we serve. Reminder to residents of the upcoming Derry Township Municipal Authority project, where they will be replacing storm sewer culverts that cross beneath Wood Road and Limerick Court. Starting Monday, October 23, 2023, weather permitting, vehicular traffic on Wood Road, between Bullfrog Valley Road and Waltonville Road, will be restricted for 3 to 4 days. Wood Road will be closed daily during sewer replacement work but will be reopened each day after working hours. Local traffic traveling only between Bullfrog Valley Road and Limerick Court will still be permitted during working hours during the Wood Road closure. Additionally, Limerick Court at the location where the culvert crosses will be closed starting Wednesday, October 18, 2023, for 3 to 4 days, weather permitting. All drivers, please be advised to follow the posted detours and allow for extra travel time.

The Derry Environmental Action Committee needs several volunteers for the Township street tree planting program on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The planting starts at 9:00 am and will last at most until noon. Derry Township residents, please remember our tree branch guidelines for sidewalks and roadways. Branches should not hang lower than 9 feet over sidewalks and 12 feet over roadways, ensuring pedestrian and vehicle safety. Avoid foliage blocking street signs and lights for driver visibility and pedestrian safety. Property owners are responsible

for pruning trees and removing obstructive vegetation by maintaining sidewalks, streets, and alleys. Drop off branches at the Derry Township Public Works Recycling Center during operating hours. Click here for hours.

When gathering your leaves this fall season, we ask that residents gather leaves at the curb’s edge while ensuring that fire hydrants and street signs remain unobstructed. Furthermore, we urge you not to blow leaves onto the street, which poses risks for drivers and pedestrians. If foreign material, such as rocks, tree trimmings, garden waste, flower stalks, boards, toys, etc., are found in the leaf pile, the leaf pile will NOT be collected. State PA Representative Tom Mehaffie is excited to announce that he will be attending two community events this November. The first event is a Veterans Breakfast on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 8:00 to 10:00 am.
