WM-Holiday Service Reminder

In observance of the Fourth of July holiday, there was no collection on Thursday, July 4. Thursday routes will be serviced on Friday, July 5, 2024, and Friday routes on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Please ensure your containers are set out the night before. Due to increased temperatures, WM has adapted its start time to one hour ahead of its regular time. It is very important to place your containers out the night before to ensure they are picked up. We appreciate your cooperation.

July 4th Fireworks

We remind residents that Hersheypark will host its Annual Fireworks Display on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10:15 p.m. As they do each year, residents and guests can enjoy the view of the spectacular fireworks from outside the park (located just outside of Hersheypark)! The rides will close at 10:00 pm, but Hersheypark will still be open for guests to watch the fireworks inside the park and the parking lots. Please exercise caution and follow all safety guidelines when around or near fireworks. Let’s ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. To view other area locations to view fireworks, please click the link.

Tree Branches

We kindly remind property owners of their responsibility to maintain sidewalks, streets, and alleys by pruning trees and removing obstructing vegetation. Here are some guidelines for residents regarding tree branches over sidewalks and roadways. It's important to ensure that no tree branch hangs lower than 9 feet over the sidewalk, 12 feet over minor streets, and 14 feet over all other streets to allow for large vehicular traffic. All trees and vegetation within the Township must be trimmed in a manner that allows for full visibility of street signage, minimum required sight distances, and unobstructed illumination from streetlights. If you have any questions about trimming or pruning trees, shrubs, or vegetation, please contact Derry Township Public Works at 717-533-2057, option 4. Please view the link for more details on the Township of Derry Street and the Public Tree Ordinance. If you need to dispose of branches, you can drop them off at the Derry Township Public Works Recycling Center during their operating hours. Click the link for hours.

If you are interested in this program, please contact Marisa Weldon, Public Works Department, at 717-533-2057, option 4. Please call on or before July 19th, 2024Click the link for more detailed information.
