Tree Branches

We kindly remind property owners of their responsibility to maintain sidewalks, streets, and alleys by pruning trees and removing obstructing vegetation. Here are some guidelines for residents regarding tree branches over sidewalks and roadways. It's important to ensure that no tree branch hangs lower than 9 feet over the sidewalk, 12 feet over minor streets, and 14 feet over all other streets to allow for large vehicular traffic. All trees and vegetation within the Township must be trimmed in a manner that allows for full visibility of street signage, minimum required sight distances, and unobstructed illumination from streetlights. If you have any questions about trimming or pruning trees, shrubs, or vegetation, please contact Derry Township Public Works at 717-533-2057, option 4. Please view the link for more details on the Township of Derry Street and the Public Tree Ordinance. If you need to dispose of branches, you can drop them off at the Derry Township Public Works Recycling Center during their operating hours. Click the link for hours.
