Q:What is Psoriasis?
A:Psoriasis is a skin disorder that affects approximately 125 million people and varies in severity. Psoriasis causes skin cells to multiply up to 10 times faster than normal. This makes the skin build up into bumpy red patches covered with white scales. They can grow anywhere, but most appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. 

Q. Does Psoriasis only affect the skin?
A. No, Psoriasis is a systemic inflammatory condition that not only affects the skin, but can also commonly affect the joints, heart and kidneys.

Q: What are some causes of Psoriasis?
A: There are many causes of Psoriasis including the immune system, genetics, environment and behavior (exercise, diet and smoking).
Q: Is Psoriasis curable?
A: Psoriasis is usually a lifelong condition and is not currently ‘curable’, although the severity of the condition can improve or worsen over time and can be well controlled with treatments. 

Q: How can one help control Psoriasis?
A: There are creams, pills, injectables, and light therapies, which are all customizable based on the patient, the severity and associated joint pain as well as insurance coverage. There are also active clinical trials that are trying to identify the next Psoriasis breakthroughs and treatments.
