Deer Management Pilot Program To Take Place At Armentrout Preserve

As part of the Township’s Deer Management Pilot Program, approved archery hunters may be in Armentrout Preserve from December 26 to January 27, which is Pennsylvania’s late archery season.

Signs on this program will be posted in Armentrout Preserve. Hunters and hikers can safely spend time together on the preserve. Archery hunters are most likely to be in the preserve during the hours near dawn and dusk. All preserve visitors must follow Township rules and ordinances when using the preserve. This includes making sure dogs are on leashes.

The Township’s Deer Management Pilot Program was started to help protect the health and diversity of the ecosystem in the preserve.

Please call the Township Building at 610-277-2400 with any questions about the program.

Solar-Powered Charging Station At Township Building

A solar-powered electric vehicle charging station that provides two chargers for electric vehicles was installed last Friday at the Township Building complex and is currently operational.

The chargers are in the front parking lot of the Township Building complex, just in front of the Public Works garages and available to the public. The station, which is completely powered by solar energy, is intended to provide for daily range replacement (DRR), essentially topping off the charge of an electric vehicle.

The Township continues to demonstrate environmental leadership with solar power. By switching to solar powered energy, Whitpain is reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Leaf Collection On December 26, 27

Leaves will be collected on December 26 for residents who live on the south side of Skippack Pike and December 27 for residents on the north side of Skippack Pike.

The Public Works Department reminds residents that leaves must be bagged for collection and not raked to the curb. The Township's collection process does not involve vacuum trucks that clean up piles of loose leaves. Leaf piles cause safety issues, clog storm drains and block street sweeping.

Board of Supervisors To Meet On Dec. 19

The Board of Supervisors will hold a business meeting on Tuesday, January 19, at 6 p.m. The Board will consider adopting the Township's 2024 budget at the meeting.

The meeting can be attended in-person or by Zoom.

Holiday Gift Recommendations From The Shade Tree Commission

Looking for a last minute gift for the tree lover in your life? Consider one of the following books this holiday season.

Recycle Holiday Lights

Thanks to residents who are dropping off broken or non-working string lights to the collection bin at the Police Department Lobby. Lights will be collected through January 30.

Rather than recycling or throwing away working holiday lights, please consider donating them to East Norriton’s Goodwill or a similar charity.

Check out the EAC’s brochure of Waste Reduction Tips for a list of local organizations and businesses that accept various items for recycling.

From The EAC: Switching Electric Suppliers

PaPowerSwitch.com makes it easy to compare plans and make the switch from your current electric supplier to a renewable energy source like wind and solar. By entering your zip code and choosing ‘Regular Residential Service,’you can customize your choices for renewable energy, fees, rates and terms.

When you choose an alternative electricity supplier you will still receive one bill from PECO. Renewable energy contracts can benefit the environment as well as your wallet. Watch for changes to your rate at the end of a term contract. Be proactive and shop for a different rate before your contract ends.
