They say that time passes faster as you get older. Well, I must be really old, because it seems that last week was Christmas 2021. We at Bountiful Harvest wish all of you the very best Christmas Season ever.

We also want to take this chance to thank you for your support during 2022. It has been a challenging year for us as the need has just kept growing. Donations nationwide are down, and it is no different with us. The growing need and decrease in donations do not make for a good combination.

Double your Donations

To help combat these difficult times, we are excited to announce that we have donors who will match contributions up to $20,000. Bradford Financial Advisors has volunteered to spearhead this campaign.

If you donate $100, they will make it $200!
If you donate $500, they will make it $1,000!
If you donate $1,000, they will make it $2,000!

Simplify Fresh, Simply Great!

We want to shout out a special thanks to Simply Fresh Market for the wonderful turkeys and vegetables that they supplied for our clients for Thanksgiving Dinner. Tony, you are one awesome man. If you don’t shop at Simply Fresh Market, you need to stop by and check them out. They have great organic foods and priced right.

Winter Coat Give-Away

Our winter coat give-away started slow but is picking up quickly. The snow and cold has helped with getting them on the move. We want to give a shout out to St Patrick’s School’s 8th grade for all the coats they collected, sorted and tagged. They even came to help give them away. Hartland Consolidated Schools did another great job this year with donations of coats.

Pet Pantry

We have a hopefully short-lived pet food shortage. All the dog food has been going to Florida to help after the hurricane recovery. We are told we will receive more in December. We have a cat food shortage of moist cat food. So, at the present we have moist dog food and dry cat food for our pet family members. Please bear with us as this will change shortly. Veterans Connected

Brighton Elementary & Middle Schools Step up to Challenge Hunger

The Brighton elementary and middle schools have been tremendous supporters of Bountiful Harvest. They have put on Fun Food Challenges and stepped up to help children in the community.

Hornung and Scranton had a huge food drive for Thanksgiving and what a SUCCESS. Over 2,000 pounds of food was donated plus a lot of monetary donations allowed us to purchase in-demand food items.

Both schools did an outstanding job. It was close for the win, but the win goes to Hornung. Congratulations everyone!

We can hardly wait to see the results from Maltby. The kids are really pushing to fill that office. Last year, Maltby came out on top because of the push to shave their principles head. This year, they are trying to fill his office with food so he cannot come to work and get in his office.

Bountiful Harvest will be closed on Saturday December 24, 2022, and Saturday December 31, 2022.

Our winter coats, scarves, hats, gloves, and boots, etc. are still available during Christmas store hours. If you are still cleaning out your children’s closet, please don’t throw away their shoes, our children need them. As a reminder, we cannot accept stuffed animals.

Thank you for all of your wonderful donations. A big thanks to Hartland Schools and St Patrick’s School 8th grade for the donations of beautiful winter apparel. They were wonderful. Our clients will have warm winter clothes this year due to your efforts.

‘Tis the Season to be Extra Careful

I got a VERY sneaky scam email today. It was an actual PayPal request for payment into my account that had a message in it that made it sound like PayPal flagged is as suspicious and told me to call an 888number to dispute. I did not call, and it was NOT PayPal’s number; instead, I logged into my PayPal account directly and cancelled the payment request. Then I proceeded to change my password and updated my security settings to 2-factor authentication. 2- factor authentication is when they send a text to your phone to verify it is you.

Lessons learned:

1. NEVER Click on links in an email.

2. If the email is not expected, it should be scrutinized.

3. Change your passwords and make them difficult.

4. Use 2-factor authentication.
