In December 2016 Thanks-Giving Square partnered with Faith & Grief Ministries to establish a new tradition in downtown Dallas. A special Community Tree of Remembrance was illuminated each evening in December to honor and remember loved ones.

On December 5th the Community Tree of Remembrance was illuminated once again at Thanks-Giving Square alongside a special multi-faith service. A few days later, a noon service was held in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The services acknowledge grief, hope, and love through prayers and personal stories. To provide a tangible way for people to remember loved ones, visitors are encouraged to add names to a ribbon and tie them to a memorial archway. On the upcoming Winter Solstice (December 21st) a Longest Night Service will take place at Thanks-Giving Square.
