Certified Food Protection Manager requirement begins March 1, 2023

The Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) is responsible for ensuring the Person in Charge is properly trained, necessary procedures are developed, and food safety requirements are understood and followed.

  • Most Food Establishments need to have a CFPM on staff by March 1 2023. Level 1 Food Establishments and Temporary Event permit holders are exempt from the requirement.

  • Companies approved to provide CFPM training and testing are listed on page 2 of this information sheet.

  • A CFPM can oversee multiple locations. They are not required to be on premises.

Food Worker Cards are still required for every employee and volunteer. A Person in Charge still needs to be on premises during all hours of operation to maintain active managerial control and safe food handling.

Going to an Event?

Clark County events create many opportunities for food vendors. If you are thinking of vending at an event or coordinating one of your own, this Frequently Asked Questions page has information you'll want to know about permitting and set-up.

Offering a food that might be exempt from permit or that is already permitted by another agency? Some foods can be served without obtaining a permit. Apply for a free Certificate of Review to assure your booth is properly set-up, contamination is avoided when serving samples, and inspectors might "keep walking" when they see you.

Consumer Advisory Guidance

The consumer advisory found on your menus help guests make informed choices about eating foods that may be served undercooked.

If any of your food is served with raw or undercooked animal products you must inform consumers by using a disclosure and a reminder.

All menu types need to include the consumer advisory, including seasonal or special menu items not listed on the regular menu.

A consumer advisory worksheet with examples and be found HERE on our website.
