The year 2023 marked systemic growth for New Century Careers as we forged new partnerships and expanded those already supporting our mission to offer industry-standard training of the technicians in high demand for an ever-growing array of skilled positions in advanced manufacturing, robotics, biomedicine, defense and other industries right here in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

This theme launches a robust recruitment effort for Manufacturing 2000 machinist training. We encourage your referrals to this program open to applicants 18 and older. A new M2K cohort is now forming to start January 22. Click here for details. Completer technicians are placed with our 131 partner companies to fill these sustainable career positions. Trainees can be on the job in as little as six months!

A Flurry of Networking Activity Ends 2023 on Upbeat Note

NCC was among 60+ member vendors at the December 6 Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce Holiday Expo that attracted over 170 attendees. The event afforded opportunities to convey the availability of NCC’s Manufacturing 2000 right in Westmoreland County at Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center in Latrobe and to make additional contacts with potential partners for workforce development.


NCC President and CEO Neil Ashbaugh attended the 2023-24 Manufacturing Industry Partnership Kickoff of the Westmoreland-Fayette WIB. Westmoreland-Fayette WIB's mission is to lead regional workforce development activities in order to assist individuals in obtaining the skills needed for today’s workforce and to help employers retrain, hire, and retain skilled workers.

Angels’ Place helps determined parents secure a brighter, more stable future by providing quality early childhood education, child care and family support at no cost or at significantly reduced rates to families in need. Nichole Mazza-Fredley, family support director, was introduced to Manufacturing 2000, NCC’s tuition-free training, offering employment potential for Angels’ Place parent/clients.


NCC attended the College and Career Day at Propel -- Montour, McKees Rocks, to introduce students to the career opportunities of advanced manufacturing through NCC’s tuition-free Manufacturing 2000 machinist pre-apprenticeship program.


NCC President and CEO Neil Ashbaugh attended an event at Commonwealth Charter Academy Charter School hosted by Pennsylvania Women Work, which empowers women to advance in their careers and achieve self-sufficiency through life-changing career development programs and mentorship.

Designing For Additive Manufacturing


Catalyst Connection and the Barnes Global Advisors are offering an Additive Manufacturing training for manufacturers in SWPA, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia. This training is an outcome of our work over the last several months on a Department of Defense funded effort where we have engaged key stakeholders, did workforce demand analysis, and surveyed our clients about additive. This 2.5 day training will take place on January 24-26 at Mill 19. There is no cost to attend the training. The class caps at 30 individuals.
