DONATE
Annual Appeal
Giving Tuesday was earlier this week! Donate to support Walter Payton College Prep. Every year, there is a substantial gap between the funding WPCP receives from CPS and the cost of our current class sizes and programming.
Why Donate to Annual Appeal?
Click HERE to view Principal Shabazz's October 19, 2022 substantive discussion of CPS funding sources and uses, how it trickles down to WPCP, our supplemental funding needs, and how FOP's financial support enhances our school. (password for video file: 1th!0%$1).
The enormous financial support we receive from current parents and guardians makes a critical difference at Walter Payton, and goes to support:
- 4.5 teaching positions, which impacts our breadth of courses and class sizes, especially those classes which make a Payton education so special, including the wide offering of AP classes and specialized electives.
- A new mini-bus to provide transportation for all student athletes and academic teams (as well as tournament and invitational fees, and referees)
- Payton Cares (dietary, transportation, mental health and clothing support for students in need)
- Freshman/Sophomore onboarding, as well as Senior graduation activities
- Faculty professional development, which helps promote teaching excellence in the classroom
- Payton’s writing and math centers, including SAT prep, college essay and scholarship application support
- Seminars, music and arts classes and other student programs/performances
- Support for athletics and academic teams (tournament and invitational fees, as well as referees)
- Global Connections travel programs for students eligible for Reduced/Free Lunch
- Student textbooks and technology
Reach out to our amazing Annual Appeal Volunteers with Questions! Thank you Annual Appeal Team!

Yearbooks on sale now
After over a decade of selling our yearbooks for $65 but spending more to produce them, the book will sell for $70 this year. Not to worry, though. Despite adding 16 pages to the book for the first time AND a decade of inflation, we are offering the book at the subsidized, retro price of $65 until January 1st.
To buy the Walter Payton yearbook for $65, go to our online store.
Fundraiser for Global Connections
Global Connections is back!! Global connections is an organization that offers students opportunities for learning, immersion, and service through travel. We are looking for your support! Please join us in attending The Steadfast Tin Soldier at the Lookingglass Theatre on December 21st at 7pm. This performance, written and directed by renowned Mary Zimmerman, has been described as "transformational" and a "treat for all ages" by the Chicago Tribune. Tickets are available through Payton for a discounted price of $60. Ticket sales and any donations support our students in having the best possible learning experiences, regardless of socioeconomic status! More information on the play or how to purchase tickets is available here.

Friends of Payton (FOP) is the primary organization for parents and guardians to support Walter Payton College Prep. FOP has a 3-pronged mission, as it creates and supports opportunities to (i) Volunteer, (ii) Participate & Build Community, and (iii) Financially Support Payton.
Our mission is to enrich the school's educational and extracurricular activities with resources that supplement the limited funding allotted to Payton through the Chicago Public School system. FOP is run by parents/guardians of Payton students as an audit-compliant 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations to the school through FOP are tax-exempt.
Every parent and guardian of a current Payton student is automatically a member of Friends of Payton - there are no membership dues or application processes. Learn how to get involved by attending a Payton Community Meeting or by contacting FriendsofPayton@gmail.com or visiting the FOP website at at https://www.wpcp.org/FOP for more information.
