Circle Members,
First I want to thank Danielle Houret-Lam, Polly Hogue, and Mary Beth Wegener for all of the time and mental energy they devoted to Bags & Bubbles. They collected and sorted pursues for months and executed a beautiful, fun event. Thank you ladies!
For many of us the busy time of year we are in is about to become even more busy. I often remind my yoga students that we tend to be out of sync with nature in the fall and beginning of winter. Our natural environment largely goes dormant as the days become colder and darker, meanwhile we become more active, celebrating all kinds of holidays across cultures and religions, from mid October into mid January.
I don’t know why we become so active at the end of the calendar year, and I’m not going to ask you to stop it, having invited you to four December events! I do think it’s valuable to take time to contemplate why we are celebrating and what it means to us. We can always take a moment to pause in the busyness, to remember the intent of what we are doing.
Grounding ourselves in our intentions makes our activities more enjoyable and provides clarity around our priorities. As you think about if and when you want to participate in Circle events this month, consider what is important to you.
If fundraising is important to you consider joining us at Sip & Shop. Of course you can socialize there too, if connection with others is a high priority. The Jr Social on December 7 and Holiday Tea on December 11 are also opportunities to connect, and perhaps take some time for yourself. If volunteering is a high priority, sign up to help with cookies decorating at City of Refuge. Also, if you need a break, take a break, and try to do so without feeling guilty. We all do so much for our families and the community, sometimes we need to follow natures example and rest.
Wishing you peace and joy,
Belinda Vogel
