Jax Beach Updates
Pedestrian Crossing Signs

FDOT has installed pedestrian crossing safety signs to alert drivers at the 16th Ave S and 23rd Ave S intersections of 3rd Street.
They are still conducting studies on the intersection of 37th S. and 3rd. For those who asked me to look into this issue, I know it has taken a while to get the two signs, but FDOT has assured me they are working on how best to enhance pedestrian safety at this intersection.

New Restaurant

Great news! South Jax Beach will see a new restaurant opening in Summer 2020. The Bearded Pig will be opening at 1700 3rd Street South (location of the former Atlantic Coast Bank). There will be indoor and outdoor seating, a full liquor license, and a play area for the kids.

Fire Department

On November 23, all Jacksonville Beach Fire personnel became employees of JFRD, and all fire services will be provided by the County.

Kids Golf Free!

Jacksonville Beach Golf Association is proud to announce the launch of its Kids Play Free program at JBGC, which is a free junior golf initiative and a first for the area. This is a collaboration with Jax Beach Golf Club and Jacksonville Beach Golf Association in which JBGA will sponsor free golf to all juniors every Sunday from 2-3 pm ! JBGA is funding, in-full, all golf and range balls to be used.

Jax Beach Pier
Good news! Construction has started and is expected to be completed by November 2021.
-  The project will cost $9.88 million. The cost is broken down to 75% federal government; 25% split between Jacksonville and the State.
-  The reconstructed pier will be the same length as the original pier (1,300 feet), but will be 8 feet higher at the end.

Jacksonville will maintain ownership of the Pier, but Jacksonville Beach is looking at taking over its management.

More information can be found here.
