G
reetings From Your President
Your chapter is continuing to do extraordinary things
to support and recognize women supporting national security. Here are a few accomplishments:
- Supported the APG STEM in Scouting Day and led the Women Leadership Panel,
- Supported The Project Ingenutiy Innovator's Tea in Baltimore County, and
-
Awarded Corinne and Deena each a $2500.00 STEM Education scholarship.
|
 |
|
For 2018, I encourage you to take an active role in supporting your chapter and volunteering on a committee - Scholarship, STEM Outreach, and professional leadership development.
Our 2018 program theme is "Supporting the DoD STEM Vision." Each event hosted will seek to connect APG workforce, community leaders, and our members to collectively doing more for others in a STEM career/career-related field.
Two of our 2018 events are coordinating with CECOM Senior Leadership to co-host a STEM EXPO, an event for high school and college students to demonstrate STEM capabilities and ignite a spark within them about understanding what the APG workforce does, as well as having our senior defense leaders speak on various topics to include APG workforce needs, cybersecurity, the combat cloud, small business relationships, work-life-balance plans, and more.
2018 will mark the first year that we ask members to donate to our STEM Education Scholarship program. Please consider being a part of the change for a young female leader.

WID National is seeking chapter members to support the National Chapter. Please visit the WID National website for available leadership opportunities.
WID National is growing and welcomes Liberty Chapter in PA and Greater Boston Chapter to our organization.

Committee Updates
Membership Appreciation Day
March 8, 2018
|
Greetings Members!
Hope your holidays are safe and fulfilling! Our November WID Talk with the Deputy Director, PEO, C3T, Mrs. Mary Woods, was intimate and informative. She shared her thoughts on mentorship and potential paths to career progression, including seeking out mentors in different organizations and career fields to increase ones understanding of overall organizational needs.
As the ten of us sat around the table enjoying frog legs and smoked pork belly at Backfin Blues Creole de Graw in Havre de Grace, we talked of WID management structure and volunteer needs. In particular, the membership committee is looking for someone with familiarity with MS Access (or willingness to learn) to help work with the monthly membership list.
I want to welcome Chris Szep to the Membership Committee. Chris is the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Government Relations at Cecil College and will lead the upcoming WID Talk in September 2018 that will be held in Cecil County. We are anxious to build our membership in Cecil County and Chris will be a great advocate. Chris, we are excited to have you onboard!
Mark your calendars for March 8th, which is our complimentary Membership Appreciation Reception. This will be an evening event in Harford County to celebrate our members. The President has challenged each member to invite at least three (3) potential members to upcoming events in 2018 and encourage them to join the chapter. Our goal is to increase our membership to over 200 members by June 2018. So, join us at the reception, it will be a way to meet members you may have only known by name and to network. Can't wait to see you there!
