In Marin, free Indian buffet becoming pre-Thanksgiving tradition!
Marin IJ has written an article about Lotus Cuisine of India's recent Thanksgiving Dinner.
As a line grew outside of Lotus Cuisine of India in San Rafael, inside, Melanie Morris and her two daughters were greeted by staff with smiles and hugs.
"The staff is great," Morris said Wednesday night. "We even know them by name."
Traditional nan and curry aren't the typical American holiday fare. But for 11 years, the owners of the downtown restaurant have offered a free Indian buffet on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
"Coming here, it's
become our Thanksgiving eve tradition," Morris said, who has enjoyed the restaurant's food for seven years and the free buffet for the past three.

Surinder "Pal" Sroa just got the Pacific Sun HERO!
Hero: While many of us prepared turkey and fixings for friends and family on Thanksgiving eve, Pal Sroa hosted the 12th annual free dinner for his neighbors.
For four hours,
Lotus Cuisine of India in San Rafael and
Cafe Lotus in Fairfax opened their doors and served a buffet of traditional Indian cuisine. Both restaurants were committed to feeding all who wanted a meal, so Sroa and his staff kept the food coming and never ran out.
Meg Tierney, who attended the Fairfax feast, was delighted with the wonderful food and Sroa's generosity, which brought out the best in everyone. "This is our way of saying thank you to our community," Sroa said.
