FAMILY PROMISE - STARTS SUNDAY
We will host Family Promise, an emergency shelter for families and their pets, next week, starting December 5. Sign up to volunteer, and/or direct questions to Maria or Howard.
A SERVICE OF LESSONS & CAROLS
Join our Music Ministry at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 12 for A Service of Lessons and Carols. This special program will feature members of both adult choirs, the youth choir, and the handbell choir along with Robert Mills, piano, and Norman Jenson, organ. We will hear the Christmas story recounted from scripture interspersed with beautiful songs and hymns. These include such beloved favorites as “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Harold Darke and “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” by Michael Praetorius alongside such newer pieces as “Come, Expected Jesus” by noted Black American composer Victor C. Johnson and “Infant Redeemer” by Anna Laura Page. Hymns include “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful” with stirring descants, and of course “Silent Night.” Hearing the music as we tell the story adds an unsurpassed depth of meaning: this is not to be missed! (In-person & livestream)
CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
Our children will lead a special telling of the Christmas story during both services on December 19, as our Children's Ministry presents its annual Christmas Pageant.
BLUE CHRISTMAS SERVICE
Christmas is not always a joyful time. For those of us who have lost loved ones, are in insecure environments, or are just struggling with life, the glitter of holiday lights is often not a sign of joy but of sorrow.  We will join together, Sunday, December 19 at 2pm (Arcadia - in-person) and 4pm (Tempe - in-person and livestream) for a Blue Christmas taizé-style service to remember that the light of God shines upon and through us even in the darkness.
CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS
Dayspring will once again be filled with beautiful poinsettias on Christmas Eve. Each plant is given as a memorial to, or in honor of, a special loved one or friend. In addition, gifts may also be made to UMOM ’s Shelter for the Homeless in lieu of a plant. Both of these gifts will be listed in our Worship Bulletins, projected before services on Christmas Eve and online. The deadline is 12 noon, Thursday, December 16. Learn more/order
UMOM STOCKING DRIVE
Help us brighten the holiday season for families experiencing homelessness by participating in our holiday stocking and gift card drive. Our goal is to provide each family member with a $25 gift card and each child with a stocking. Learn more or sign up HERE. Stockings should be delivered directly to UMOM December 6-10, from 8am-5pm.
SECRET SANTAS NEEDED
Secret Santas are needed to provide some extra nurturing for someone in our church family by secretly sending them cards the 12 days before Christmas and brightening their Holiday Season. Email Pastor Joel to learn more or to sign up. Thank you in advance for reaching out and doing for others. It means the world to all who participate. We all need more joy this year!
REFUGEE FOCUS - CHRISTMAS GIFTS
We have partnered with Lutheran Social Services to sponsor a single parent family of five, and our goal is to fulfill as much of their wishlist as possible to show them that they are loved! If you feel called to donate and help us make their Christmas a memorable one, then please join in the fun of giving! Please contact the office or email Paola for more information.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
The winter holidays can be difficult for people who find themselves struggling in their personal lives; especially for those who have experienced loss or tragedy. Stephen Ministers are highly trained members of our congregation who listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. The care they give is confidential, free, and very helpful. To learn how to receive care from - a Stephen Minister, call the church office at (480) 838-1446 or email them HERE.
