Be a Safe Lancer over the Holidays
As our campus prepares for the winter break, many of us will be facing some difficult decisions that centre around travel plans and holiday gatherings. The evidence is clear - these activities can pose an increased risk for contracting the virus as we continue to see significantly higher infection rates of COVID-19 locally and across the country.

With that in mind, it is important that we each make the best possible choices to ensure our own safety and the safety of others over the holidays. We are beginning to see signs of hope in stemming the spread of the virus. Let’s continue to do our parts to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Have a safe and restful winter break!
Stay home, stay safe

The safest way to celebrate the holidays is:
  • Staying home and celebrating with your household members only.
  • Reducing your number of close contacts and staying local.
  • Do not participate in any holiday activities outside your home that may pose a high risk of close contact with others outside your household.
  • If you are ill or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, even if mild, stay home.
Virtual celebrations

Plan virtual gatherings or events with friends and family who live outside of your household. Here are alternative ways to celebrate:
Avoid non-essential travel
  • Canadian citizens and permanent residents should avoid non-essential travel outside Canada. Click here for details.
  • Consider avoiding all non-essential trips, especially to areas that may have more COVID-19 spreading in their communities.
Be a Safe Lancer
The basics have served us so well over the past nine months. Keep it going!
  • Practice good hygiene - wash your hands properly and frequently.
  • Wear a face mask.
  • Keep 2m distance from others whenever possible.
Returning from break
UWindsor will continue to closely monitor the Provincial and local COVID-19 Response Framework level and adjust campus operations and access accordingly. Any changes will be communicated via the Safe Return to Campus website, news update bulletin or e-newsletter.

Remember, for those approved to be on campus for the Winter term, upon returning from the holidays, do not attend campus if you are not feeling well or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. Stay home and contact your health care provider.
In a continued effort to keep you well informed on the latest Return to Campus (RTC) plans, you will receive regular communications through RTC News Update bulletins, the semi-monthly RTC
e-newsletter, UWindsor social pages and the RTC Website.
