December 2017 Newsletter
Southern Industrial Contractors has been very busy the second half of 2017.
Below are some of our notable projects from this time period.
Lasalle BioEnergy- Urania, Louisiana
Drax Biomass Inc., a leading manufacturer of sustainably sourced compressed wood pellets, began start up production at its newest facility, LaSalle BioEnergy in Urania, Louisiana in November 2017. This facility is capable of producing approximately 450,000 metric tons of wood pellets per year.  As part of the plant upgrades, SIC mobilized in our rock crusher to crush approximately 12,000 tons of existing concrete structures. SIC also mobilized in our portable concrete plant which, along with 5 cement storage silos, made it possible to produce and pour over 16,000 cubic yards of concrete paving in 45 days. SIC is proud to be a part of the project team at Lasalle BioEnergy.
International Paper- Queen City, Texas
Owner- International Paper
Prime Contractor-RHTC
Engineer- Ford Bacon & Davis
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Southern Industrial Contractors has recently completed a new infeed conveyor foundation for
International Paper which is the Texarkana mill located in Queen City, Texas. This project
involved the installation of 16 H-piles 14 X 117 which were 80' long as well as installation of 250
cubic yards of structural concrete. The project schedule for this work was extremely tight. The existing
plant's log cranes and infeed deck could only be shut down for 5 days, therefore, the work had to
be completed in less than 5 days. Southern Industrial Contractors started this work at 1 AM on
Monday morning and all work was completed by Friday at 12 noon.
Southern Industrial Contractors' manpower, equipment, and approach to the work was very
professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. They mobilized two crawler cranes to the worksite
which were a 250-ton crawler crane and an 80-ton crawler crane along with pile hammers and
hydraulic drills for the pile installation. The 16 H-piles were completed within the first 36 hours
of the shutdown. SIC then completed the concrete foundation work with their own concrete
crews, who were also very efficient and knowledgeable.
Southern Industrial Contractors was responsive to the project's unique needs, provided
invaluable expertise for their scope of work, and overall performed very well. International Paper
would highly recommend Southern Industrial Contractors for future projects and upcoming
work.
