What Christ thinks of The Church What were the issues facing the early church as it began to grow following the Feast of Pentecost? How were they resolved and in what way did the Holy Spirit intervene? Are there similar issues facing St. James’s as we move past COVID and continue to be faithful and regain the ground we lost? How was the early church seen by its community and how are we perceived by ours? Acts 2-6, or just come and be surprised by the similarities! Don’t forget your engaging mind!

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”

Bishop Stevenson has released a powerful video addressing the strife in Israel and Gaza that deserves your attention. The video has been posted on the Diocese website, which you can see by clicking here

"More than just a place of worship, St. James's Episcopal Church has become a sanctuary for our family. In the midst of our often hectic and scattered lives, it serves as a grounding force.

Gathering here on Sundays provides us with a sense of unity, peace, and spiritual nourishment, preparing us for whatever challenges or joys the coming week may hold. Our involvement in this faith community has not only deepened our faith but has also become an integral part of our family's identity and support."

-- Chris Peace

Chris's full remarks are very moving. To read them go here.

Your pledge, combined with the pledges of other St. James’sers, makes up our proposed budget – and creates opportunities for the over 60 ministries planned for the coming program year.

Look for our Steeple-o-meter in the Narthex, which will chart our progress as we move toward our goal.

All Saints Necrology

All Saints Sunday is November 5. On this Sunday we remember our beloved ones who have died. If you have someone that you want remembered, please send their name by Sunday, October 29 to Mary Brown at mbrown@doers.org.

Please note, if their name has appeared in the church bulletin during the last 12 months, their name is already on the list – and there’s no need to submit their name.

Reaching the clergy for pastoral care has been simplified.

Moving forward, finding pastoral care will be easier and more direct. When you call (804) 914-2808 you’ll be put in direct contact with the clergy member on call, so there’s no need to call multiple clergy to find the one who can best provide you with the help you need.

We suggest you add this number to your contacts. You can also find it under Connect on the nav bar at doers.org.

Prayers of the People

Here are the names of those we're remembering in our prayers this week.

We do our best to keep this list current, but if you want your name added or removed, please email Mary Brown at mbrown@doers.org or call her at 804-355-1779 ext. 313
