City News & Updates

Winter Weather

Now that winter weather is here, we've got snow plow crews working around the clock to treat, plow, and de-ice city roads!

Check out our Snow Removal Page to learn how the City manages winter events, view the prioritized snow route map and schedule, submit a snow removal request, and get answers to the most common FAQs! Questions like...

  • How long does it take to clear the streets?
  • Why wasn't my street plowed?
  • What do I do if a snow plow truck causes damage to my property?

83rd & Lexington Open House

We're hosting a public open house on February 7th to gather community input on the 83rd and Lexington Corridor Study. The focus of the study is to look at a range of multimodal improvements along the 83rd and Lexington Avenue Corridor, from K-10 to the Eastern De Soto city limits.

This open house is an informal gathering for the community and City/consultant representatives to discuss initial ideas and collect public input for the study. Come share your thoughts, ideas, and vision for connecting De Soto!

  • Date: Wednesday, February 7th
  • Time: 5:30pm to 7:00pm
  • Location: Council Chambers

Sign Up For FlashVote

Help shape De Soto in 1 minute by signing up for FlashVote, our new community survey platform for quick, anonymous surveys.

How It Works:

  1. Sign up at flashvote.com/desotoks
  2. Choose how you want to share your opinion: voice, text, or email
  3. Expect 1-minute surveys every 4-8 weeks
  4. Respond within 48 hours once a survey drops
  5. Receive the results right after the survey closes - showing you how the rest of the community feels about the same topic.

View the results of our first survey, which gauged general public interest on a multi-purpose community center in De Soto.

These findings help influence the City Council's initial discussions, like whether it's a worthwhile project to pursue, but an in-depth community study would be necessary if the project moved forward.

2024 UTV Registration

Don't forget to renew or obtain your UTV permit for 2024! A City UTV permit allows golf carts, low-speed vehicles, work-site utility vehicles (side-by-sides), and micro utility trucks on streets with a speed limit under 45 mph.
