Rock Concert Tonight
June 21st @ 7pm, Riverfest Park
We're kicking off the Summer season tonight with the Legends of Rock Concert!

83rd & Lexington Study
Final Stages
We’re nearing completion of the 83rd & Lexington Corridor Study, a project aimed at enhancing transportation and accessibility from K-10 to the eastern boundaries of De Soto.
The consultant's draft of the "Preferred Option" plan is now available and we're eager to hear from you! Dive into the interactive map, explore the details up close, and share your thoughts directly on the plan.

Firework Regulations
Celebrate responsibly with fireworks while complying with City Code. Please take note of the City's following firework regulations:
Firework sales are permitted during these times:
- June 29th - July 4th, 8am - 10pm
Fireworks can be discharged during these times (not on City property):
- July 2nd & July 3rd,10am to 10pm
- July 4th, 10am to midnight
Bottle rockets and aerial luminaries are prohibited.

Council Meeting Rescheduled
July 2nd, 2024
The next regularly-scheduled City Council meeting lands on the 4th of July, so it has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 2nd.
The meeting will still start at 7pm in the Council Chambers.

The De Soto City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting last night, June 20th, at City Hall. View the agenda here. Quick run-down:
- Approved rescheduling the July 4th meeting to July 2nd
- Approved quote from Rieschick Drilling Company to repair Well 17
- Discussed revising City Code to allow pit bulls within the city (but tabled moving forward to next steps)
- Approved contract amendment with GBA to provide construction observation on the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project
- Approved bid from Superior Bowen for the 2024 Overlay Program
- Approved contract with Wiedenmann to demolish old Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Approved ordinance revising City Code on economic development incentives
- 2025 Budget discussion

87th & Sunflower: Closed
The intersection at 87th Street and Sunflower Road is now temporarily closed. This closure, part of the 5-Mile Sewer Project, will last for approximately three weeks as contractors install a new sanitary sewer pipe.
Residents and property owners along 87th Street still have access to their properties/roads (aka Access to Thru Traffic), but vehicles are not able to get to Sunflower Road via 87th Street.

Election Workers Needed
Johnson County Election Office
Most Johnson County voters prefer to cast their ballot in person, either in advance or on Election Day. Our dedicated election workers ensure every eligible voter can exercise their civic duty.
Help out the Election Office as an election worker for the primary election on August 6th. This is a paid position!
