Welcome the third day of these 11 days leading up to Yogi Bhajan's birthday on August 26. We are delving in to the
Adi Shakti Mantra, the Long Chant of
Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru, in The Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings®.
As you explore The Yogi Bhajan Library of Teachings® with us in these 11 days, consider the impact Yogi Bhajan's teachings have made on your life. What a perfect way to celebrate his legacy by supporting this work of making all of his teachings available for free in a searchable online database!
Like many of the mantras that Yogi Bhajan taught, the
Adi Shakti Mantra is an
ashtang mantra (eight-part mantra). Yogi Bhajan recommended chanting this mantra for 2½ hours each morning; he says if you chant this mantra for 40 days in the Amrit Vela (early morning 'ambrosial' hours) you can be liberated. In
this lecture in 2000 he talks in depth about the
Adi Shakti Mantra commonly known as the 'Morning Call', saying:
" It can give you all knowledge, which existed in the universe of universe of universe. When you chant this it open up your ajana, command center... "
He goes on to say:
"This is called the science of the Pavan prana and this is what we have done right now is called Pavan siddhi mastering the prana. And then the Pavan the breath of life becomes your Guru. Then you will get vaak siddhi, then the breath of life shall happen. You understand the system how it works? And what you have done is called Jap you repeat again and again and again and again for a specific time till you reach one-tenth of the day. One-tenth of the day of twenty-four hours is two and half hours. It's a hard work"
