industry News

ESP has been doing a lot of repairs on showers, mainly clog weep holes.  We are getting about 3 per week and I know I have told you this before but most shower assembles have problems clogging the weep holes due to soap and hardwater.

The thing that is disheartening is that in the big box stores, the Iron drains for the shower are currently defective.  The holes are partially or fully clogged and contractors are putting them in homes.  I had one in Santa Clara where the 3 new bathrooms all had defective drains.

Two ways to tell is if there is a darkening on the lower walls next to the shower floor or if there is grout lines on the shower floor that are accumulating heavy water deposits.  The reason behind this is that the water under the pan cannot drain and the water has to flow somewhere and therefore it comes up through the grout lines.
