Danger: Curves Ahead:

Advanced Legal Descriptions

In the transfer of real property, it is universally required that the deed and many related documents include a written legal description of the property that gives its precise location and delineates its boundaries.

Metes, bounds, lots, blocks, and curves—every real estate attorney, paralegal, title agent, and support staff person will benefit from a better understanding how legal descriptions are derived, and be able to plot one with a reasonable degree of accuracy.

This seminar will cover these topics:

  • Short overview of basic legal descriptions and plotting.
  • Tips and tricks on plotting legal descriptions that are missing key information.
  • How to read curve data, understand curve nomenclature, and plot basic and complex curves.
  • How to calculate missing curve information. (Yes, there will be math involved.)

Join us for this informative program about the core of all real estate transfers—the legal description. It provides accuracy and consistency over time, serves to prevent boundary disputes, and facilitates the transfer of ownership.
