Due to popular demand, we will be starting local chapters of Dames (or Dudes) Gone Wild. If you are interested in becoming a Dame or Dude, please let us know at carolh(at)tampabay.rr.com We will inform you of our progress and the details as they unfold.
We are glad to be home, writing the book about our experience and planning the next steps for The Dames. Our families, friends and four legged friends were glad to see us and the feeling was mutual.
We had miracle after miracle occur on this trip and the people we met and knew already are extraordinary human beings and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
We couldn't have done this without everyone's support, friendship and love. Our gratitude runs deep and our lives are forever changed because of YOU! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You can help us now by spreading the word: "like" us on Facebook, add @damesgonewild to your Twitter friends and reach out to our personal pages on LinkedIn and Facebook. You'll find us under Carol Jones Hasbrouck and Joyce Claflin. Tell your friends about us!
Our hearts are full and we are blessed!
So are YOU!

It became very clear that I wasn't in charge on this journey (or really, my life) when the very last child I worked with was a young boy named Cody, who lives with Down's Syndrome. Forty years ago, my voluteering journey began with Tommy, a 5 year old living with Down's Syndrome. Tommy awakened something inside of me that reminded me: We are here to help each other. I've been volunteering ever since I met Tommy. So, to work with Cody as the grande finale service project of our Summer Service Adventure could only have been orchestrated by the Divine Planner. I am so very grateful.

Misses at the Carteret County Humane Society
|
We loved walking the dogs at the 4 different humane societies we visited and Misses is one of Carol's favorites. She is rather timid, but after some extra time of walking and loving, she finally wagged her tail in appreciation. If you have ANY extra time on your hands, I highly recommend going to your local animal shelter and offering to walk their dogs. They're in need of helpers and the dogs will shower you with love and admiration too.

The Dames are in the News again! We really are amazed and grateful at how inspiring our story is to everyone and have been blessed with even more media coverage. Isn't it nice to read about the good things that are going on in the world instead of, well, the rest... Read our latest article HERE from Career Thoughts Magazine about "I Love My Job!" We will have an article published in the Washington Times next month. Our favorite local T.V. news reporter, Josh Green, did a follow up interview with us upon our return. It will air this Thurs night at 11 pm on Channel 8 in the Tampa Bay area. Keep an eye out for us on Ellen, The View or Oprah any day now! :0)))) Be sure to subscribe to our blog HERE
