Good Morning Democrats,
Okay, I admit it. I was disappointed and concerned during and after the debate. The first 20 minutes were tough to watch. But the more I have thought about it, the more I believe that the American voting public (at least the majority of us) knows a pathological liar when we see him. He is such a polished lying product that he can make the most obvious lies seem believable. But we lived through his four years as president. We saw with our own eyes his attempts to destroy our democracy. We heard with our own ears his patronization of Putin and Kim Jong Un. We know him for who he is. During the debate he defended the end of Roe v. Wade. He takes credit for the appointment of the justices who upended fifty years of women's rights to determine their own medical needs. He said that Charlottesville was "made up". He said that on January 6th "we were respected all over the world". He defended his criminal convictions and pending criminal charges as resulting from a "rigged system" and claimed that he did nothing wrong. We cannot let this lying sociopath back-in office.
Our candidate is old. We know that. So is theirs. But he is a president who truly cares about our country and its citizens and is committed to preserving our democracy. We must stand up and push back on the lies from the right.
During his term as President Joe Biden has:
…expanded health care to millions of Americans
…lowered the price of needed prescription medications such as insulin, which is now $35 for seniors
…created more jobs than any president in history
…took the largest climate action in the history of the world
…cancelled student debt for nearly 5 million people
…supported Ukraine to stop Putin's goal of reestablishing the USSR
…improved our infrastructure by investing in bridges and roads
…expanded benefits to veterans
…protected same-sex marriage
…passed gun violence bill
…averted a banking crisis
…shifted the microchip supply chain back to the USA
…and so much more……
Thanks to the Biden campaign for the above bullets and the reminder.
Now more than ever, we have to STAND UP - PUSH BACK - VOTE
I believe in Joe Biden. We cannot go back to chaos.
Dennis
I absolutely concur with everything that Dennis pointed out above but recognize that there are many Democrats engaging in handwringing, insisting that Biden must step aside and be replaced by a different nominee at the convention. They are forgetting or ignoring two important points from the logistical standpoint.
First, a significant portion of the party’s war chest for the 2024 election has already been spent on advertising, literature and other campaign materials that specify the Biden-Harris campaign. If the convention were to replace Biden as the nominee, the party would need to immediately replace that already-spent money, putting our nominees at a serious financial disadvantage.
Second, and even more difficult to overcome than the funding situation, is the fact that Republican legislatures in several states, including Ohio with its 17 Electoral College votes, in an effort to rig the election in their favor, moved their deadline for putting candidates on the ballot from AFTER our convention to BEFORE the convention. The party and the Biden-Harris campaign successfully petitioned the courts to allow Joe and Kamala, as the “presumptive nominees”, to be on the General Election ballot but if we wait for the convention to choose our nominees, we will lose the right to have our nominees on the ballot in those states. We cannot concede a single state, much less several states, to Trump.
