Denver's compost guidelines have changed
Effective April 1, ONLY food scraps and yard & plant trimmings will be accepted in residential and commercial compost collection. Compostable service ware, paper products, and compostable bags larger than 3 gallons are NO LONGER accepted in the compost stream.
These changes are being made because the compost processing facility serving the Denver metro area has been receiving too much contamination (materials that are not actually compostable), and it needs to ensure it has the right raw materials to make a CLEAN compost product.
