Central Ohio's Largest Irish-American Women's Organization
"American by birth, Irish by the grace of God!"
Hello Ladies of the Daughters of Erin,

I am excited for elections and the coming year!

Thank you to Carolyn Collins and her committee for coordinating the May Crowning, and to Father Pat Toner for serving at the event as Msgr. Cody recuperates from cataract surgery.

We are planning for summer events, the Shamrock Club Music Festival July 7-8, DOE Golf Outing July 15, scone baking July 29 and the Dublin Irish Festival Tea Room Aug 4-6. Please plan to volunteer and help us organize volunteers for these fundraising events! We especially need strong, tall individuals to put up and take down the tent sides Friday & Saturday evening and Saturday & Sunday morning at the Dublin Irish Festival. Watch for more details after the May meeting.

Congratulations to college scholarship winners Ali Lothes and Isabel Winters; and to the Irish Life Experience winner, Shawn Peterson. The Shamrock Club is hosting a car wash and bake sale for his trip to Ireland, June 4, watch for updates.

Thank you,
Sharon

2023-24 ELECTION | MEET THOSE RUNNING FOR OFFICE
Hello, My name is Sharon Tantes.
I have been a member since 2001. My mother was a member of years when I was younger and into my adulthood.
It was her special time for her and her friends.
My sister, Nancy and I are in charge of the fundraising table and continue do so today. I have been on the board, and Vice President in 2020 and 2021.
In 2013 was Irish member of the year in 2017 and Irish Woman of the year.
For the last year I have been your President.
Please vote for me so that I may continue to serve this wonderful organization.
Thank You, Sharon Tantes

Hello, my name is Becky Ellis. I’m the current Vice President and would like to continue for another term in that role.
Over the years I have served in many capacities beginning as Hospitality Chair, Secretary and President. I have chaired or volunteered for many of the DOE activities including the Irish Breakfast, Christmas dinner, Tea Rooms at both the DIF and the Summer Feis, Golf Outing and many more.
My past Board and volunteer experiences have left me with a unique understanding of the organization and all it’s parts. I bring that history with me when helping make decisions that effect the organization.
I also discovered how tight the Irish community is and why the DOE and the people I have met and become friends with have meant so much to me. Please vote for me so I can continue to serve the DOE.
Thank You, Becky Ellis

I have served as the secretary and board member during the last six years. I have been a member of the DOE since 2016. I enjoyed the positions and having the opportunity to work with our members and the other Irish groups.
I served on the Hospitality Committee with Patty Archer. Due to Covid our only large event was the Christmas Luncheon in 2021.
I have volunteered at meetings and for the Children's Christmas party, the Easter Egg Hunt, the Dublin Tea Room and the Irish Breakfast.
I am happy to be serving as the secretary again to help our organization.
Thank you for your consideration.
Peggy O'Neil Arnold
My name is Mary Enright Freimark. My father was a charter member of the Pipes and Drums Corp. and I am proud to say I grew up in the Irish Community. I have been retired from government for 3 glorious years. I grew up and currently live in Clintonville. I am married and together we have a blended family of five grown children. I love OSU football, entertaining for family and friends and traveling. I love the Irish community and I am glad my parents got me involved from a young age. I am amazed of all the incredible things the organization does for the community and I have enjoyed getting to know all the strong amazing ladies in the Daughters of Erin. I am also thankful for the enormous generosity this organization has given to my daughter Anna, and since she is away at college, I would like to have the opportunity to give back to the organization.
Thank you, Mary Freimark

I have genuinely enjoyed my term as a Delegate to the board. I have learned so much and now appreciate and understand all the work and time that our board, committee chairs and event chairs and coordinators put into making the Daughters of Erin the successful organization that it is. I am proud to be part of this group and even prouder of our support of local charities. I would like to continue as a Board Delegate because I feel I need to contribute as much as possible to help us continue in our mission. Having moved to Columbus several years ago and then retiring, I needed a way to connect and make friends here. Joining The Daughters of Erin has provided me with more than friendships--it has become family.
Thank you, Karen Jones

My name is Donna O’Brien. I am Irish by blood and an O’Brien by marriage. My grandmother is an O’Rourke and her brother Jerry was a past President of the Shamrock Club. I have been a member of the DOE multiple times at various stages of my life and have volunteered for many events. I’ve been on the Board as Secretary in 2009/10 and 2010/11 and recently chaired the Irish Breakfast 2023.

I would love to have your vote for one of the Board Delegate spots in 2024.

Thank you for your time!
