As a follow-up from my previous article regarding the BOC’s action to replace the district commissioners’ aides from full-time positions back to part-time, the Board ALSO REMOVED THE $50,000 EXPENSE ACCOUNTS of the three district commissioners who voted for and received them; namely Commissioners Carthan, Robinson, and Mitchell. Overall, almost $230,000 was placed back into the county's Fund Balance.

Chair, Phil Miller, announced the other day at the State of County luncheon that Douglas County has an AA2 credit rating, a $0 long-term debt, and a $49 million Fund Balance. One of the most talked about subjects is the maintenance of our roads, and to that they announced $5 million will be spent this year to resurface county roads. District 4 roads include the following:

Another hot issue in District 4 was the upper field at Winston Park. Back when I was on the Board, they said there were not sufficient funds in the 2016 SPLOST by the time they got to this park.

Good news $5 million dollars from the 2022 SPLOST has been dedicated to Winston upper fields and the project is moving forward…new concession, bleachers, 3 fields, paved parking lot…etc
