Message from the Principal

Dear DHS staff, students, and families,

It is hard to believe but we are already midway through the semester! The midway point is a great opportunity to reflect on current academic progress and set new goals for the remainder of the semester. Students, are your study habits helping you achieve your greatest potential? Check out this advice from UNC about active, effective study strategies. Your teachers can also provide subject-specific advice and generally support you in reflecting on personal goals for the class. As a friendly reminder, students are encouraged to visit the ARC to enhance their learning experience through individualized or small group support. Keep up the great work - you've got this!

Sincerely,

Principal Anderson

Counseling Corner

Freshman Career Curriculum

The school counselors will be going into Fr Advisories on October 31 to deliver the first installment of the career curriculum. The students will be using MaiaLearning which is a tool to which all our students have access using their school login information. Some of its features include interest inventories, personality assessments, career exploration, and college searching. The first lesson is introductory in nature and provides a glimpse of how Maia can and will be used throughout their four years.

Suicide Prevention Programs

School Social Workers and School Psychologists are facilitating a suicide prevention program in freshman advisories during the month of October. Juniors and Seniors will participate in suicide prevention programs in January.
