We have launched our new website to coincide with the auspicious time of what the Tibetans know as Lha Bab Duchen!
Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery decorated for Lha Bab Duchen
As Jetsunma explains..."Lhabab Duchen – Festival of the Descent from the Gods – occurs this year on the 10th November, 2017. This commemorates when the Lord Buddha returned from teaching the Dharma for three months to his mother Maha Maya and other celestials who had been reborn in the Trayastrimsa Heaven. It is said that our karmic actions on this day are multiplied 10 million times, so positive activities are encouraged (and be careful of negative actions including thoughts). Good incentive to be mindful! At DGL Nunnery the temple and stupa are covered in fairy lights and the nuns perform a puja to Shakyamuni Buddha and the 16 Arhats along with philosophical debates and Dharma talks delivered by the nuns." ~ Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo
And so we thank you 10 million times for your kindness and generosity!
"Tsunma" - a new project - provides a secure online donation pathway to the Alliance for Non-Himalayan Nuns, Laphag Nunnery, Tayul Gonpa, Gebchak Gonpa, and the Nyerma & ChulichanNunneries.
Thank you for supporting DGLI's mission to raise awareness and improve the education standards and living conditions of our Tibetan Buddhist female monastic communities. Your generosity has an immediate impact on their well-being.
“My feeling is that well-trained nuns will have an increasingly important role to play in upholding the sacred Dharma, and we are committed to helping this come about.”
